Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Insanity abounds.
A car is stopped for going the wrong way on a one way street. The driver gives a false name and age (18). He's actually 15 therefore unlicensed. Police send him to Olympia to await deportation. Now the parents are suing for racial profiling. Trinity Western University prevailed (so far) in being able to have accreditation for their law department because they require students to agree to only engage in married heterosexual union. Do people not understand the other side of the argument that if TWU is not allowed to have their standard, then the resulting policy would logically mean there can really be NO Standard? But then again, it is lawyers..... I never understood what was so great about
Frank Sinatra. It seems if you wanted to appear cool then you were a Frank fan. I don't think he is that good of a singer. If you want to hear some singin', listen to Sammy Davis, Jr sing "What kind of fool am I". Sammy and Dean were overshadowed by his mediocrity. oooh, Shirley, you made me think of "Sway" by Dean Martin. Nice.
Mary, That one does get the hips movin'!!!! My local jazz station is doing a 3 hour tribute to Frank tomorrow night. I guess I'll listen to something else.
Listen to WUMR (you can do it online) Memphis 91.7 Sunday 5PM to 8PM for tribute
Back in the 70s when Mrs feeblemind turned 21, her father took her to a nice restaurant to celebrate. Can't remember if it was in Burbank or Hollywood.
Anyhow, the Reagans and Sinatras were dining together a couple of tables away. Sinatra got wind of her birthday and walked over and sang Happy Birthday to her. He didn't know her and wasn't paid to sing. Maybe he just wanted to sing to a hot young chick? I guess even monsters have good days. Eh? "I don't think [Frank Sinatra] is that good of a singer."
Your musical opinion is laughably stupid. Let me guess before I even read the article. The delay in choosing a woman for the $10 dollar bill is so that (spit) Hillary (spit) can be on it.
Re: Ten dollar bill
I'm glad they postponed the redesign of the $10 bill. I think they should keep Hamilton on it and redesign the $20. It's amazing to me that they would take the first - and probably the best - Treasury Secretary off the currency. Even worse is that it seems to be for a bureaucratic reason - I think the reason they are doing the $10 is because it was next in line for a redesign. Hopefully when the new Treasury Secretary comes in, he will throw those plans in the crapper and do it right. Re: FedEx and UPS overloaded
Very odd. FedEx and UPS are overloaded, the price of their fuel is dropping like a rock AND so is the value of their stock price!!! QUOTE: Why you can’t call nuts, avocados, olives, or salmon “healthy” With the exception of the salmon, I agree that this is rubbish. Plants aren't fattening unless you absolutely set your mind to it. But sugars are, right?
Look, you're killing your system with an unsustainable degree of stress and ketosis, expecting that your diminishing system can replenish itself with needed nutrients out of thin air. Plus, the whole fats-are-fine meme has already been debunked, as has the protein myth. They're food fads. And they're a choice. Think, BD. Actually, the ketogenic diet is helping many people get off the diabetic medicines, increasing HDL ,and helping morbidly obese people lose the weight. It is not a food fad.
Look up Dr. Hallberg,IU Medicine. "Almost Immediately Upon Hearing Word of the San Bernadino Shootings, Obama Ordered FBI To Downplay "Terror" Angle, Convened Meeting of NSC to Plot "PR" Response"
But interestingly, while the media, even Fox were withholding the name, CAIR had a full brief and access to the brother-in-law and made their press conference before the late evening on-scene briefing? Hmmm? They should put Sarah Breedlove on the $10 bill. She was the first self-made millionaire, woman in America. Oh, and,
QUOTE: Her parents and elder siblings were enslaved people on Madison Parish plantation, owned by Robert W. Burney. She was the first child in her family born into freedom after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. I made an effort to understand the climate change issue by watching/reading Democracy Now, which covered the Paris Conference every day. A transcript of the program is available on their website.
Besides the very questionable premise (or premises, as there are so many "experts" with diverse solutions depending what will best line their pockets), anyone who thinks that "free money" -- money not connected to specific projects -- will ever make it to good use have never worked with such activities. The graft and corruption overwhelms any force for good works or longterm solutions. re: immigration We had an exchange student from Kazahkstan.very bright and very motivated. She returned home to finish high school then went to Austria for college and graduate school-- MS Petroleum Engineering: while there she married another student, a Russian who received a PhD in Materials Science. They would like to come to the US but can't even get to the door. It is insane that we will take anyone but will not give two young, bright, productive individuals the time of day. Guess they don't fit the narrative.
"Treasury Department delays decision on which woman to put on $10 bill:"
They'll wait until Hillary gets elected, and announce their decision to put her on every bill the next day. They ought to put Miley Cyrus on the ten dollar bill as a symbol of the debasement that always follows liberalism, Caitlyn Jenner on the three dollar bill, Hillary on the Mugabe like 3 trillion dollar bill
