We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Hmmm, just the amount of time since I moved from the Gulf coast. And there were storms that hit the Atlantic coast when I moved to that area. If I were a climate scientist, I might think there was a causation there.

I am trying to figure out how one would pay for a retirement that would last until 120. Just because you could live that long, doesn't mean you are able to work longer. What about Medicare and Social Security? Or pension plans? Can you imagine the costs if people were retired for 55 years???

Such a bad idea. I wish people would stop being so obsessed with living forever. We all die some time. Stop being so scared of death. Do you really want to be enfeebled and have someone feed you pudding from a spoon for the last 20 years of your life?

I would gladly live and work that long - if treatment keeps me at least as fit and robust as I am now. If it just adds years to my life in a geriatric daze - no thanks.

I'm not Catholic myself, but I've heard Relevant Radio, and one of the things they're not happy about is the media twisting the Pope's words (and sometimes fabricating quotes) to make him fit the narrative.

Scientists from a range of institutions are currently raising funds and recruiting 3,000 70 to 80-year-olds who have, or are at risk of, cancer, heart disease and dementia.

From what I understand and what I have read, dementia, heart disease (when not congenital) and cancer are all progressive diseases. Seems like 70's years old is a little late to be starting on this.
And Alzheimer's is affecting people earlier and earlier than what is considered 'old age'.

Trump claims that thousands cheered the WTC attack in New Jersey. The MSM and leftist activists are attacking Trump over this wild claim. They smell blood in the water and are circling like... well like leftists activists. But what is the truth? There is substantial evidence that indeed hundreds in Trenton NJ cheered the WTC attack and it was so big a demonstration it was called a 'riot'.
But the MSM and activists are saying it never happened. As I understand it what happened was that indeed in a heavily Arab community in New Jersey there was a spontaneous riot/celebration of Arabs/Muslims sympathetic to radical Muslim terrorists who took down the WTC. That the authorities took steps to break it up and specifically to tell the rioters/celebrants that what they were doing would cause a backlash and they should refrain from expressing their joy in public. Following this celebration the MSM choose to cover it up, they even purged a report on this from their on-line archives. I'm not sure why they felt the need to do this but they did it. BUT NOW THEY ARE DENYING IT!! And they are calling Trump a liar. So my question is which is worse: Americans/immigrants celebrating a terrorist attack on this country OR covering it up?
