Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The great enemy of freedom and the American dream is 'free stuff'. Once the voters and politicians realized that they could vote to take someone else's money from them with the power of the state it was downhill from there on. All that was necessary was for a party to sink so low as to decide to sell off the American dream for the power they would have as it went down. Now the only question is who will drive this wreck over the cliff.

Pretty much the same problem with free will--but still better than the alternative, which just means giving up before you start.
