Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

>>No. Herbal teas cause cancer too.
My husband bought a pair of boots this weekend, by one of the only if not the only bootmaking company in the US, and there was a little piece of cardboard contained in the box with a warning. I don't have it to repeat verbatim because we left it at deer camp; but the gist of it, is that these boots may contain cancer causing agents identified by the state of CA and that chewing or sucking on these boots will significantly increase your chances of getting cancer. We obviously don't live in a free country anymore. Everything is known to the state of California to cause cancer.
As my science is as good as California's, I'm going to release my findings, or more accurately what I think, and that is that worrying about cancer is a leading cause of cancer. Sounds to me more like a subversive response to a silly/stupid regulation. Something along the lines of Do Not Tear Off This Tag And Eat It.
It said specifically:
Is treated with chemicals known to cause cancer in the state of CA. Do not chew on or suck on boots. Really. We need "I’m asked occasionally: “why do you use gendered pronouns for your son?”"
Having a child is no longer a celebration. It's a crisis and whine and pity-fest. With babies it is simple. If when changing their diapers they pee in your mouth, it's male gendered.
The only correct answer would be and should be "because I'm still sane."
"Because I'm still sane . . . and would like my son to have a fighting chance of growing up sane. And I'd really appreciate it if you didn't try to talk to him."
"Black Man Arrested"
Now there's a shocker. How'd that ever get past the censors? If all we read are the headlines it is implied that Black Negro Afro-American People of Color, or "The Sacred People" as they think of themselves never commit crimes. They are entitled to riot, do and deal drugs, provide fetuses to Planned Parenthood, and otherwise prowl the streets with White people as their prey. I guess one hundred and fifty years of guilt ain't enough. Boy, living in a small border town I sure miss out on a lot of things. . QUOTE: Z-man: Living in America is Babel Oh, gee whiz. In a free country people can speak anything they want. In fact, the vast majority of people in the U.S. speak English "well" or "very well". https://www.census.gov/prod/2013pubs/acs-22.pdf Perusing his blog, for thezman, language is just a proxy for race. Turns out that most of the world isn't white. chasmatic: They are entitled to riot, do and deal drugs, provide fetuses to Planned Parenthood, and otherwise prowl the streets with White people as their prey. Oh, gee whiz. Bite your tongue. This is new and improved America without culturally imposed gender. You cannot speak Spanish, French, Italian, etc., almost any non-English language, without using culturally imposed gender even on the innocuous noun.
So all must speak English so as not to oppress the differently gendered. Besides, most of those who only speak Spanish who are coming to America are not from Spain, nor have significant ancestral blood linkage to Spain. We must encourage them to throw off the language of their colonial masters and adopt the much more egalitarian American English as the language of their liberty. Yeah, z-man pretty much thinks that every noise in the forest is a wolf.

I'm trying to get the drift of the commenters on this web site. Many of them are articulate, erudite, have more formal learning than I do. Jes my opinion, this is chasmatic: When chasmatic meets people for the first time he's respectful and plain vanilla pleasant. If he's expected to state his position on a subject of mutual interest he does it with due caution, one level above the anecdotal, two levels above the personally argumentative. chasmatic assumes, with more optimism than conviction, the listener stands ready to continue the discussion at the same level of exchange. Later, when both parties’ main batteries have demonstrated their range and accuracy, and asides have reassured both "they're okay" the talk, like water, assumes its natural level. The first confidence is offered, and reciprocated. chasmatic keeps a field-tested confidence or two at the ready. Not quite sure what you mean with the "Oh gee whiz." My first take is that you agree with my sentiments but they are wearisome obvious. Second take is that you consider me bigoted: stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own. Yeah, some of that and I'll hazard a guess that many of the readers are as well but we are in pleasant company, strong feelings might be inappropriate. TMI? perhaps. Set me straight Zach, you're a regular commenter and I value your thoughts. If I'm coming across like gangbusters let me know. I consider myself a guest on this forum and I know enough to wipe my feet before coming aboard. If I'm doing OK then this, or close enough: And if my thought-dreams could been seen They'd probably put my head in a guillotine But it's alright, Ma, it's life, and life only. chasmatic: Not quite sure what you mean with the "Oh gee whiz."
Look for the parallel construct in the comment. chasmatic: Second take is that you consider me bigoted: From your comment above, not sure it's even a hard call. zachriel:
Thanks for a polite but opposing reply. Good manners were enjoyed by all. I kinda thought you were coming from a point of view that differed from mine. That's good, I need to widen my perspective. I used the word "bigoted" and it's a hot word. I could have said "biased". To my understanding "prejudiced" would be if I never tried, oh, Greek food and declared that I disliked (hated) it. Biased would be if I did try it and just didn't like it. "Bigoted" is a pejorative word and is often used in place of biased. Sure, it would be if the dislike was expressed in strong hateful, demeaning, all kindsa nasty terms. Perhaps in the case of my comments. Naturally I would say I am biased but that's not totally true. I have much experience with different races, spiritual beliefs, genders, any of the sorting dynamics that folks use to differentiate. The examples from which you draw your conclusions I admit are strongly biased and bigoted suits them. Consider this: sometimes I use, um, hotter words to generate replies from which I can learn something; I can't be asking everybody "is this OK?" Ah, shit-disturbing is an impolite way of saying it. Not to hijack this comment string, although I guess I did have a need for some clarification, check out my blog. Sundays I try to have spiritual content and I consider myself a Christian. Some commenters go "oh yeah? Ahem, how can you come across as biased and write weird comments and consider yourself a Christian?" No clear cut answer. I was married to a Jewish girl from Montreal and a lot of Old Testament stuck with me. I run out of cheeks and then what? You are a good example of the type of person I tend to mock. You are a racist fanatic who sees everything as a proxy for race so you accuse everyone of being a racist. If the weatherman vexes you in some way, you claim he is in the Klan.
Similarly, you are the type endlessly yapping about diversity, but you live in a whites-only New England town where diversity means the Chinese college professor or the Indian engineer. Thanks for being useful example I can point to. The Z Blog: You are a good example of the type of person I tend to mock. You are a racist fanatic who sees everything as a proxy for race so you accuse everyone of being a racist.
The fact remains that the vast majority of people in the U.S. speak English. When you step outside of the U.S., you realize that American culture is so overwhelming that few other cultures can withstand the tide. Oh gee whiz:
Right now I am working on a modern version of Swiftian Economics. Note: no mention of race color or creed Whereas the inner city dwellers have high abortion rates, and whereas groups like Planned Parenthood are in the market for fetuses whole or in part (with an economy section for by-the-pound purchases) let it be such that the breeders, having been graded and classified, be organized for sales of fetuses. Genetics will play the same part with fetuses as with cattle, horses, &c. A working example of Eugenics: better genes will bring higher prices. An opportunity to be self-sustaining and have honest incomes part of which would be used to offset the medical care, EBT and other expenses of such a group. A trade union or guild might be necessary to represent the breeders. Abortions-R-Us, premium prices paid for genetic qualities, by the piece or by the pound. No waiting. The Magic Dirt will suffice to bury the excess. Won't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. chasmatic: whereas groups like Planned Parenthood are in the market for fetuses whole or in part
Actually, the vast majority of Planned Parenthood clinics never accepted fetal tissue donations. Those that did only accepted nominal and legal fees to cover the costs involved. Now, they don't even accept those nominal fees. Oh gee whiz, eh?

Just like climate change, the horrors must be invented to keep the activists funded
It may be simpler than that. AGW science, such as it is, is so broad and effectively unknown that alarmists can always find a justification to avoid contemplating confirmation bias. It just takes particular perspective on certain data for them to then lay claim to the only allowable science on the phenomenon, whatever the phenomenon is or is not in reality. We know that science breaks from time to time. Cosmology is another good example of complexity and the unknown inevitably leading to upheaval and revision. https://youtu.be/nbI-PduG6cs https://youtu.be/CFsTttzh0oA Alarmists need to reconsider. Maybe they should start teaching in Journalism school what a damn sidewalk is for.
I had hoped for the opportunity to vote for this man for President. Common sense and honor. Think of how much better off we would be today.
Thought to be a contender during the early stages of the 2008 Republican presidential primary cycle, Thompson drew little support in many of the early states and he took a big hit when the former Southern senator failed to win South Carolina. He eventually dropped out in late January. Win or lose, I’m not ashamed of any choices I’ve made in casting my vote for President. I know I would not have been ashamed of my uncast vote for Fred. I liked Fred Thompson, but I think he threw his hat in the ring in 2008 solely to grease the skids for his buddy McCain - a thought supported by his quick exit. Of course, I can't prove it - it was just predicted as likely to happen before he declared his candidacy by a friend of mine who was working on another campaign.
The Welfare State, Socialism, whatever the new label may be, it incompatible with Modernity. It is incompatible with life centered on the individual with the separation of the political, economic, social and religious/ideology spheres.
It is also incompatible with technological modernity in that it the Welfare State was conceived on an anomaly of human progress, namely the explosion of population when technology removed the mortality controls on population, with improvement isn infant mortality, disease control, injury recovery, etc. However, this was just until the fertility controls kicked in with abortion, birth control, late marriage, etc. to stop the continued rise in population. So now, families have fewer children and give them more in terms of healthcare and education even as children no longer contribute to the family economics but rather are a continuous liability (economically), i.e., a luxury good. So it is that we see the further increase in the revival of the servile ideology among the intelligentsia as they seek power to exploit the mass of people for their own sustenance and maintain the illusion of the Welfare State. "How Long Can Europe’s Welfare States welcome refugee's and migrants?"
There will be a tipping point where there will be enough of these immigrants/invaders and then they will take over. Perhaps not in a day it will likely take years of open and underground warfare but it will happen. Who will win? The group that is most committed and most aware. My money is on the Islamists. Or until the locals realize what's happening/being done to them, and revolt.
GWTW:
A fundamental truth: given a perceived need, there is no race more implacably murderous than White folk. And when thugs riot, neighborhoods burn; When White people riot, continents burn. . chasmatic: And when thugs riot, neighborhoods burn;
When White people riot, continents burn. That seems to have to do with relative military superiority, e.g. the Mongols. Zach, yes the Mongols. I had in mind WWII, from the beaches to the Rhine, Dresden, the Pacific campaign, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The quote also shows the relative insignificance of Ferguson and other areas of Thug riots and looting, so forth. If and when we get up off the couch we'll stomp the bad boys once and for all. There will be civil war along racial lines but Europe will have opened our eyes. Think: all the refugees coming in is a version of Trojan Horse. My but they look so harmless, and I like their food ... Many of Martin King's more militant followers advocated for violent insurrection rather than peaceful demonstrations. He told them violence was a quick way to understand what the word "minority" actually means. Back in the day, working for Uncle Sam (!) I was at several parties drinking plonk and sharing joints with Stokeley Charmichael and some early Black Panthers. nothing further, don't ask. statute of limitations, so forth. . One of the few people, in fact, who seem enthusiastic about the plan for Sumte is Holger Niemann, 32, an admirer of Hitler and the lone neo-Nazi on the elected district council. He rejoices at the opportunities the migrant crisis has offered.
“It is bad for the people, but politically it is good for me,” Mr. Niemann said of the plan, which would leave the German villagers outnumbered by migrants by more than seven to one. Is the Times really surprised by this? Important time periods to measure and evaluate; 'How long can you tread water', and 'How long would it take Germany to re-arm?'.
I'm guessing that then next time Germany changes governments, all bets are off. |
