We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

This comment is apropo in Canada today because an election was just held that proves this point. The most concerning of this is that they will sell our souls away at the IPCC conference at Paris.

By politicians that cannot tell you the worlds current temperature, or name any climatologists, or can tell you the current ice coverage at the poles.

In other words they know nothing about the topic, yet are prepared to spend millions to deal with it.

According to the Left, the answer to government failures is more government. It is exactly the opposite to the way the world works.

Taking education as an example: The Left, and especially the education establishment, says that failing schools should be given more money. What happens is the failing schools don't improve so yet more money is shoveled to them. This should not be a surprise to any thinking person. Just as we tend to get less of what is taxed, we tend to get more of what we reward - in this case, failure.

It works with teaching methods, too. Back in the '50s, public schools were pretty good. Even inner city schools provided a good education. The teachers unionized and implemented all sorts of new strategies and policies. The result was that the quality of public education went down but rather than go back to what worked, they doubled down on more new ideas which worked as well as their previous new ideas.

Yes. A few hundred years ago we could have left this crap behind in Europe or wherever. Unfortunately there are no frontiers right now so we have to fight with these retards.

There are two kinds of progressives/leftist. Those who simply believe in it like it is a religion handed down from above. Then there are those who use it and use the religious followers to acquire power and wealth. You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into. For those people for who progressivism is a religion they will support the seekers of power and wealth even when they are shown to be liars and crooks. It doesn't matter if it is Bernie, Hillary or even Biden the left will vote for them if for no other reason than to prevent the right from winning.

The idiocracy consists of the mind numbed young people who've bought the stupid in colleges and popular culture. Even for many of them though they see progressiveness as a way to get a place at the table in the nomenklatura in some ridiculous non-productive career field wholly subsidized by the government.
For the leftist pols and media hyenas though it is cynicism writ large, a chance to enrich themselves by stealing from the middle class. It won't end well.
