Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Mountain out of a molehill. I don't think ANY thinking person actually thought he created this ex nilo. Sheesh he's a kid being judged by grownup level hindsight.
Obviously (even from the first photos) it contained factory made components, repackaged and dressed up. It was still a completely legal toy, NOT a bomb, NOT a fake bomb. . [It's said that Henry Ford's fascination with mechanical things came about when as a boy he successfully fixed an alarm clock. Good thing he wasn't arrested for terrorism] The reaction was irrational, but what is most disturbing is that kind of reaction is becoming commonplace (and NOT limited to Muslim kids). The country has descended into technologically ignorant paranoia, and the slightest deviation brings out the pitchfork crowd. It's gotten to the point where just seeing a circuit board brings out cries of terrorism, and rather than behave in a level headed manner, the authorities flame the idiocy. Because of CYA, all the expense and trouble caused by the over reaction winds up blamed on the person who had the device, the government actors have nothing to lose. Until LE is held responsible for maintaining a level of common sense, plenty of innocent people will be trapped. "Until LE is held responsible for maintaining a level of common sense…"
The LEOs in my community and many others simply are leaving the field as they feel less and less support from the PTB and more pressure from groups who wish them dead. Our military services also have been asked to serve with one arm being the back while ignoring the evils of those they are sent to protect. We are living in a very messed up world lacking moral leadership. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/21/world/asia/us-soldiers-told-to-ignore-afghan-allies-abuse-of-boys.html?action=click&contentCollection=Politics&module=MostPopularFB&version=Full®ion=Marginalia&src=me&pgtype=article Re: Sultan "America is destroying its values...."
This interview of Ravi Zacharias about the destruction of our moral and spiritual values says it best: http://enrichmentjournal.ag.org/200804/200804_020_Defend_Christian.cfm "The Question No Candidate Will Answer"
"Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, national security, and interest on the debt — typically constitute about 80 percent of all federal spending" You have to wonder if this is intentionally dishonest or just ignorant. In fact Federal welfare is the single largest expenditure of the federal budget not SS. Also SS has it's own funding and is only in the federal budget because The Democrats put it there because they wanted control of the huge influx of money when it was bringing in far more than it was paying out. The federal welfare costs about $1.2 trillion a year and it is spread around some 2400 different programs many hidden in five separate cabinet level departments budget. Why is welfare so well hidden/distributed? Exactly for this reason so that it can never be distinguished as a single dollar amount and exposed for the waste it really is. Clearly the left wants the SS money and they will have it. Hold onto your wallets seniors... The comment section of the article about Apples is closed. I would like the Barrister and other MF'ers to help me with these questions:
1. Why do the Macintosh Apples in the Northeast taste so much better than out here in Montana? 2. Should I plant my apple tree in the spring or fall--we are in zone 3? ANd, yet another example of the women of WA state. You know the ones--those who have been taught to hate any and all white men. Why in the he&& does the VA allow any woman in any position of authority in WA state? How long will it take before the message is clear! The women of WA State HATE WHITE MEN .

why would anyone think capitalism has a moral (or immoral) dimension? it is an economic theory that works well in practice in that it has raised the quality of life for most (but hardly all), once tweaked a little here and there. D:
The moral basis of free markets is that it reflects what people decide to pursue in life. Nothing to do with one's life in the spirit which is open to rich and poor alike, for free. "634 of the city’s 799 custodians earned more than $100,000 in salary and overtime during that time, city payroll records show.
That’s because of the city’s 1,500 school buildings, 238 have no full-time custodian on site, up 74 percent from the 137 empty slots in 2012, according to data from the custodians union. The arrangement is forcing nearly one-third of the city’s 737 custodians to cover two schools — and reap additional pay." Those numbers make no sense. re JEB BUSH IN A DRESS
That phrase sums up Fiorina quite succinctly. |
