ISIS and antiquities...

As cash hungry as ISIS has been and with the declining price for oil I'm surprised that it didn't occur to them to sell those "hated" art treasures instead of destroying them. Might have helped make the payroll next month.

Or is it the response of a child to smash the toy he's ordered to return to the child he took it from? With the Iraqi armed forces getting into the zone with the guidance of the Iranians (??!!) perhaps some of the ISIS commanders see the that they are past the high water mark and about to be wiped away as quickly as they rose.

When the final history of this war is written it may be that the only significance attributed to the savages of Isis will be triggering the formation of the Iranian Hegemony.

Or is a way to inflate the prices of what they smuggle out? Though my take this goes along with the "new broom sweeps clean", the Romans cheerfully clear cutting Druid's sacred trees, Mohammed destroying the idols at Mecca, gangers over painting another's tags, etc.

It is all part of the plan. This began back in the 60's when Ted Kennedy and his buddies voted to open up immigration. The plan is to overwhelm the country with immigrants and offer them "free stuff" thanks to the Democrats and convert them all to Democrat voters. With this new Obama effort we will pass the tipping point where it will be impossible to reverse this trend. Imagine 100 million legal and illegal immigrants voting Democrat and demanding your SS and "free stuff". They will vote and they will vote themselves a piece of your pie. This can only end with a total destruction of the middle class and confiscation of their assets to redistribute to the "poor". Do you like your house? Than you can keep your house, as long as you can pay the ever increasing taxes.
The trick is to keep the hoi polloi distracted long enough until the country becomes a defacto bannana republic and cannot be reversed. So far it's working. Don't forget, press "2" for Engish.

More BS from NASA.

When push comes to shove there will be plenty of water for California's municipalities. All they have to do is take it from the farmers who use it for irrigation.

According to this,

"52 %: based on the total water supply of a dry
year" is used by Agriculture.

That's over half the water. Still plenty left if you don't irrigate.

The damage to the California economy by shutting down irrigation is another topic.

"The Boys In The Boat"

I had the enormous privilege of knowing one of the "boys" very well. Don Hume and my late mother, then the widow of an army surgeon and in the Red Cross were in The European theater. Don was in the Merchant Marines. They fell in love. After the war my mother returned to the east coast and he to the west, and they did not see one another for thirty years. By that time my mother was widowed again, and the lovely romance resumed. Don's oil and gas exploration business kept him traveling most of the time and not to places my mother liked. Their talk of marriage fizzled. This was sad for me as I found him to be ideal step father material (smart, tough, honest, handsome and an Olympian!). Oh well.

I always liked her; her advice was spot on.

I recall someone writing that they were going to a dinner party where they expected to meet the partner of a gay friend of theirs for the first time. They were nervous about what they should say.

Miss Manners counselled: extend your right hand, shake his, and say "Good evening, very pleased to meet you."

Have subscribed to "Range Magazine" since the early 1990's.

With Range's straight forward focus on the "spirit of the west" they spotlight the people that feed, clothe and shelter the rest of this nation documenting their concerns and travails over the damage well-intentioned environmentalism and its malevolent twin sister radical environmentalism has wrought on a proud independent people.
