Anybody can be in error once in a while. Our friend Schneiderman has seemed to miss the point here because these people are not fragile. They are venomous: Trigger Warnings and Trauma

It's all pure manipulation. There is no real neurotic hypersensitivity there. Play-acting, like drawing a foul. In today's politicized world, people use contrived pain as a tool of aggression and control, just as borderlines do.

Eric Berne suggests the "Yes, but" response line, "That's a tough problem you've got there," and go look for a game of Rapo ("come hither, get away from me you beast").

While a firm believer in the past is the past but we can change our present and future, there are very rare individuals who prove all rules have exceptions.

Consider the case of a cave in survivor who panics when the lights flicker. It would seem the task is not avoid the unavoidable trigger but learn new methods to cope (e.g carry a flashlight etc) as Scheiderman says.

However, in total agreement as used outside the neuro-cognition lab, the phase has become yet another way to impose control, shirk responsibility etc just as say Asperger's , etc.

I don't think he misses the point. He makes the point well that people need not be shielded from trauma. He is not really arguing against your own assertion that it's a power play.
