Amnesty will be an unmitigated disaster. The number of people who are in this country illegally is not accurately known and is probably underestimated. It could be 10 million it could be 20 million it could well be a lot more. Amnesty will create numerous problems immediately:
1. Some very large and unknown number of illegals will become legal the moment the bill is signed. The "legal" status might be a little gray but once the bill is signed the illegals will be undeportable, legal to hire and most likely eligible for any and all government aid.
2. As soon as amnesty is signed there will be a rush on our borders and ports of entry that will make the last 6 years look insignificant by comparison. These new illegal immigrants will not be any easier to deport then the old illegal immigrants were. They will come by the millions and they will need every kind of taxpayer funded support possible. It will be a disaster.
3. Every illegal immigrant whose status comes under the amnesty willbe eligible to bring relatives into the country. It could be a man bringing in his wife and kids or it could include parents, siblings, aunts and uncles etc. This multiplier effect means that if 20 millions illegals get amnesty they may bring in another 50 million "close" relatives.
4. Every illegal over the age of 62 will immediately be eligible for Social Security. This will likely bankrupt SS.
5. Almost every school district will see dramatic increases in enrollment of children needing special handling and native language speaking teachers. The cost to taxpayers for K-12 education would probably double in most school districts.

The list of negative effects is endless so in all fairness I should list the positive effects of amnesty:
