We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The Democrats’ real problem is that they apparently think most women support the radical feminist agenda and care more about their sex lives than who can best lead the country. Trying to sell the idea that most Republicans oppose contraceptives was never going to fly and only made their candidates sound ridiculous. And abortion is not an issue uppermost in most women’s minds — especially married women. But the issues were secondary to finding a way to scare women into going to the polls by painting the Republicans as misogynistic Lotharians who don’t care about women being raped or assaulted, and who prefer women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.
I think the last video of Ms Arsen lying face down while people look on with little concern is a perfect representation of her art. It represents her inability to do anything worthwhile juxtaposed with the public's lack of concern for what she is trying to do culminating in a crescendo of her banality. Now there's real meaningful art for you!
"A viral video about street harassment" backfires on the PC group that produced it for the most ironic reasons possible. How can you not laugh outloud at this. The video itself was a farce, I mean you drag some bait through the streets and you get bites! Who coud have seen that coming, right. They purport to put out a "everyday" girl next door dressed modestly but in fact she had a great butt and big boobs. The film producers made every effort to downplay this by dressing her all in black so that camera couldn't highlight her assets too well but still it was hard to hide. Should a young attractive lady be able to walk on the streets of New York without men trying to connect with her? Absolutely, even though it defies human nature it is a goal of an educated and respctable society that you don't rudely approach a stranger in this way especially a woman. But when the obvious usual susoects do just that then the usual constantly offended are, well, offended. I'm sorry what we saw on film were those people who were not educated into a society of gentlemen who were not respectable or polite. The fact that they were all or mostly black and hispanic should indeed be uncomfortable for blacks and hispanics but hardly a good reason for the perpetually offended crew to blame this problem on whites.
Related, from the article, What A 1951 Photo Tells Us About Modern Women’s Loss Of Power:
"One of the things missing from the conversation about the viral street harassment video is the fact that women have — or used to have, at least — quite a bit of sexual power. As sexual mores change radically, that sexual power seems to have diminished even as we’re told that the opposite has taken place."
"The fact that they were all or mostly black and Hispanic should indeed be uncomfortable for blacks and Hispanics but hardly a good reason for the perpetually offended crew to blame this problem on whites."
They filmed for over 10 hours; I suspect that they did, in fact, go through "white neighborhoods." But, they didn't get all that much catcalling from white men.
