We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Marble harvesting is done differently in Marble, Colorado. No sunshine in the pit, a lot of water too. The stone is up high around 10,000 ft. and in the side of the mountain. Once when I climbed up we had to scramble over several avalanche chutes as we climbed in the early spring. (1985) maybe. The Marble is just the purist white I have ever seen. Hardly a streak anywhere. It out does snow at high altitudes. The marble for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was harvested there.
Some of those hand signals are the same that I learned in crane school in the USA. I suspect that there are specialized signals for backhoe/excavator operators that are standardized also.
