We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Germany's apprentice system is not economic, it is cultural, and it cannot be transplanted to other countries with different cultures. For example, the rest of the EU and the Anglosphere.

Funny, I thought a more severe frost was called a freeze.

Don't tell them one of the ways to combat a frost is to put out smudge pots to drop a little global warming over the crops.

Last year, I got nailed as an early frost was deeper than I planned and killed off things early. This year we missed one flirtation with patchy frost and I've gotten to enjoy another month of blooms, more time for gourds to dry on the vine and the pumpkin plant is making a valiant, yet futile effort to set more fruit. I fear winter is coming and it won't make it. Same with the volunteer cucumber. Heroic but in the end in vain.

Is the irony simply lost on these people? Does anyone really think preventing a white male fromhold a job like this is "diversity"? Let's call it what it is; a bigotry officer.

Long before the race riots of Ferguson,decades before in fact, Baltimore became unsafe for whites. Too bad it is a beautifu and historic city.

It's way past time to treat this as what it is, a crime. The people doing this deserve some serious jail time. How do intelligent people allow this to continue?

VA Gummint-Funded Beer: Doesn't seem necessary in Oregon. Micro-breweries seem to sprout like mushrooms and toadstools. Don't Virginians like beer?

Baltimore Busses: Why not to live there. Bad busses, and apparently bad cops and politicians.

Voting out incumbents: Yes, not ALWAYS a good thing, but not a bad one, either.

Did you notice that the racial aspect of the incident was not mentioned?

This should not be a surprise. Thomas Sowell studied the effects of affirmative action and this sort of racial violence and racism is common in every instance.

Racism is when somebody harms/helps another because of his race. Institutional racism is when the law does it 'legally''. Affirmative action is nothing more than institutional racism of both both kinds because it is designed to help those in the desirable race but by doing that, it hurts others of the undesirable race(s).

Resentment of rich people -
That author's description of rich people looks like a caricature to me. Admittedly my exposure to phenomenally rich people is from helping with logistical aspects of making meeting run smoothly for the board-of-governors of a cultural non-profit. Perhaps because these boards seek to replace themselves with new people who are willing to give as much time, talent, and treasure as they have done, the rich people I've met were all delightful people who did not get to their exalted positions from being ruthless and scheming, but from being great at making people want to give their best work.

Sadly, I guessed what the Baltimore Bus Ride was going to be even before I read the story.

It is rather "commonplace" in Baltimore and has been for a long time - white folks need to be aware that riding a bus in Baltimore is not safe for whites. period.

This is what the 2nd amendment was intended for. Certainly not a perfect answer to the problem but it would tend to make people more inclined to mind their own business instead of choosing "wilding" as a hobby.
