Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

60 years ago Elvis brought black music trends to white folks with rockabilly and rock 'n roll. At Althouse, It's All Right...


But is this the first real Rock 'n Roll tune (with Ike Turner in youth)?

That's what I've heard. May be true; I suspect a case could be made for others.

Current Artists have voices and musical talents comparable to any age/era yet they ought to include in their repertoire of every collection they make a rendition of a gem that came before them. Don't worry about making it 'original', just by putting it out there in a different era/age it is done. The best are done by trying to stick to the strictest interpretation of the original, in their own way they'll be original too.

The USA plugged into electricity/radio waves and got the modern show started, most notably, with the help of African Americans but everyone is in this melody.

Some say this one, some say Joe Liggins and the Honeydrippers, some say others. I can't draw a time line between Boogie Woogie and Rock & Roll.
