Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

New England Real Estate: Old Saybrook, CT

Nice village, but not a fancy or expensive one, at the mouth of the Connecticut River. Katharine Hepburn's house (her only home) is for sale. She always was a Connecticut gal, not a Hollywood gal.


I do not want it, but I like the handy harbor area and the salt pond.

Just $14,000,000 and it's yours. For that small sum you get a fine Long Island Sound waterfront home once owned by Hepburn and the privilege of paying more than $100,000 per year in property taxes.

Don't forget, with that harbor, coastline and salt pond, you'll need a nice bit of coin to keep the government men, and women, at bay. Especially in CT. Regulators gotta regulate, or get paid not to. hint, hint.

A lot of depression-era nickles and dimes went into that place. None of mine though. Mine went to Tom Mix-Tim McCoy et al. (Yes I am that old.)

Last time I was in Old Saybrook, in the mid-90's, the police station still had a set of stocks for miscreants on the front lawn.

Don't know how often they were used though.

EPA Fascists would not allow that house, harbor, road, or salt pond to be created. I hope someone buys it and maintains it, because we will never see anything like it again.
