It is not black and white. This brief interview about gay and straight is accurate and reasonable, in my view: The invention of the heterosexual - The history of straightness is much shorter than you'd think. An expert explains its origins.

As I have said before, humans are a highly-sexualized animal with omnivorous and often confused and confusing appetites and impulses.

Bliss's flat, hyper-materialistic, rather mind-less reductionism leads to all sorts of odd, Nihilistic leanings, each of them bolstered by the trendiest of cite-worthy sciences.

Sexual preference does not exist along a bell curve. It never has, and the literature and written history of every time and place attest to this. That powerful men also screwed young males at times does not change this.

If you squint really hard, you can make anything look like anything.

The author Hanne Blank states that "Psychiatry is responsible for creating the heterosexual..." and "various categories of sexual deviance...", however I have had a very different experience, as I, a man, have had a decided attraction to females from earliest memory without the help of a psychiatrist and I have also categorised sexual deviance all on my own, with no help from the psychiatrists. I naturally resisted the advances of homosexuals as a teenager because I was repulsed by the behaviour, not because anyone told me to. Dad was embarrassed to talk about this stuff and so he never warned me. Giving me a healthy home life and modeling basic manhood worked just as well, I s'pose.

I remember twenty years ago it was popular to say "don't tell me how to feel." Seems to me the folks at Salon are among those who today want to tell everyone how to feel, particularly about sexual deviance. I am still repulsed by homosexuality and that feeling is not subject to their approval.

Just as vegetarians (among others) try to restrict omnivores from eating [i]wrong]/i] foods, so the various hate-filled -phobes try to restrict our omnivorous sexuality.

I support LGB2SVP5MRST3Z2 liberation! Let no morality or law restrict our sexualities. All genders, all sexualities are green Gaian, natural!

Oh please, this is way too ambivalent. Human nature is amazing... I remember my ethnic/Catholic/lower middle class neighborhood growing up. He was, in looking back, gay. He had a very masculine persona. We mostly avoided him, until we realized that he would get beer. Then he would put on fashion shows. By this time, I had abandoned the hood but there was no fluidity in sexual preference. Over 90% were hetero. Thinking different is aberrant.

Fine rebuttals. When you squeeze it down, the odd thing is still the ODD thing. Normal only in the sense that it exists, not in the sense that it is normal.

My early experience was life around Hollywood and the adjacent beach towns--some of which were saturated with a homosexual community. Nobody bothered. However, i learned early on that an important piece of homosexuality was the "naughtiness", the hunger for power and domination by children of wealth, the market exchange on the back lots of the studios, etc., etc. In a very exciting community with an extremely intense daily life homosexuality was the next big adrenaline rush!
