Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Pali Independent State: Then they'd have to govern, which they don't know how to do. And worse, much worse, they'd be directly responsible for attacks on Israel.
Besides killing Jews\actively discrediting Israel, what else have they got?
Israel left them an oasis in Gaza, and they utterly destroyed it outright, and turned it into a missile base. Same thing for all the settlements, orchards, and other left developments - destroyed because a Jew did them There comes a time when, even seeking peace and civility, you notice the other side isn't sincere, or, wishes likewise.... re ISIS "but how are they a threat to the US?" Consider: control of a vast swath of territory close to or astride the oil and gas lines of communication with us, Europe and our allies; control of huge volumes of money; the ability to direct the enormous resources of a state to terrorist means and ends...need I go on? I won't even mention the nuclear capabilities of Pakistan and Iran nor the chemical and biological weapons capabilities that were used in combat between Iran and Iraq in the 80's. That knowledge just doesn't evaporate.
Re: NYT and Walmart
The NYT has proven over and over again that it is not interested in reporting "All the news that's fit to print". Just this morning, it is burying the investigation of the IRS - apparently not even reporting on the House hearing with the IRS commissioner last night. Of course they were all over the 18 1/2 minute gap in Rosemary Wood's tapes during Nixon and illegally published the Pentagon Papers. Somehow there's just something more interesting about a Republican scandal. Who needs Walter Duranty? Well you know that Walmart correction was in aggressive red ink and failed to have a trigger warming. My bet is that due to PSTD the folks at the times blacked out and couldn't process the information.
In other news...an obscure website posted a DHS ICE job posting in January for vendors to ferry 65K of unaccompanied minors to the US. It will be picked up by conservative talk, republicans/ conservatives will be accused of wearing tinfoil hats, 6 month from now (after the elections) it will be picked up by MSM and Obama will "read about it with the rest of us". Then it will be revealed that a "rogue employee "organized the advertisement, transportation, gagging of border agents and the press, etc for this Border crisis....however the dog ate the email... Is ISIS a threat to the U.S.? Well if you ignore history and don't listen to their threats perhaps it isn't. I suspect we will ignore history and what they say (their version of their mein kampf) and we will lear the hard way just as we did when AQ flew planes into the WTC and the Pentagon. We (our government) just doesn't seem to be able to handle complicated problems such as protecting us from foriegn and domestic threats. We got the government we deserve and now we will get the violence our government isn't interested in protectingus from. But there is good news! Obama's handicap is improving and hotels and resorts around the world are in the black thanks to his vacations.
I'm all in favor of being mindful, but having a big stick handy, just in case they do piddle\fudge in the front yard.
If the Iraqi governance cannot handle this band of ragamuffins, then it should seek outside help. If they cannot rule effectively, they should not rule. Not to say said ragamuffins should be in charge, but they were left with the power, tools, and mandate - not our issue they're like TP in a wind storm. If the ISIS does get froggy, then we should smash then with furious anger and ample force to show its not a good idea. Even with a tidal wave of neutrons.... smash what? what part of the desert do you want to turn into a howling wilderness? the problem with outfits like ISIS is that they have nothing to lose, hence, suicide bombers and atrocities and an endless supply of recruits who also have nothing to lose. they're crowing about capturing humvees, their primary weapons seem to be RPGs and AKs and fanaticism. if we fight another asymmetric war against an ideology the results won't be any different than they were in afghanistan, or iraq, or VN for that matter.
I don't know about you, but not taking "we have nukes, and are not afraid to use them'. sounds kinda serious.
So, what's your plan to counter? Bend over, grab the ankles, and wait for contact? Asymmetrical warfare is winnable - ref. the UK in Malaysia, Siri Lanka, and maybe even Nicaragua (tho, it was a popular vote that ousted the Reds...) - all it takes is the will, resolve, and time. Ideology goes out the window if a 757 with a tac-nuke goes off in Atlanta, NYC, or DC. Joe Citizen is gonna want answers, and scalps, not 'well, they only displayed HUMVEEs, AK's, and RPG's -we didn't know they had those"... you tell me, war planner, who, what and where you intend to start nuking. this is not a rhetorical question.
and explain not only where they got the nukes, but the ICBMs to reach Atlanta. the linked story doesn't reference nukes. but these "sources" do; TribulationNow DailyStormer godlikeproductions endtimeheadlines world news daily the source of this nonstory, quotes a hezbollah friendly lawyer who quoted an unnamed, unidentified ISIS guy who claimed the ISIS had nukes who doesn't even threaten the US. QUOTE: “Do you think that we do not have access to nuclear devices?” Lamb quoted the ISIS member as saying. “The Zionists know that we do, and if we ever believe they are about to use theirs, we will not hesitate. After the Zionists are gone, Palestine will have to be decontaminated and rebuilt just like areas where there has been radiation released.” that sounds credible to you? how about this? QUOTE: “Do you think that we do not have access to Gozilla?” Lamb quoted the ISIS member as saying. “The Zionists know that we do, and if we ever believe they are about to use their Motus, we will not hesitate. After the Zionists are gone, Palestine will have to be decontaminated and rebuilt just like areas where there has been radiation released.” ProTip: from now on, assume very jihadist's wet dream is to nuke Israel.

Re: The Parking garage of the Fates
I suppose it might be worth noting the location of the supposed meeting place of Deep Throat and Woodward. Of course, there has been a lot of conjecture developed from inside knowledge of the people and times that Deep Throat was more likely many people rather than just one (which if true might imply that the parking garage meetings might be less important). And I'm all for monuments to dark forces in the government (of any party) being taken down a peg. However, I think it's silly to make the location of Woodward's meeting with a source for a news story a monument. As Miller states, there is plenty of real estate taken up by grotesque buildings housing the bureaucratic chains of our bondage. If there is a better private commercial use for that property, then let it be built. If you want to put a plaque in the sidewalk, fine, but let commerce flow. And if you want to tear down one of those office buildings to put up a replacement for that parking garage... That would be even better! Sultan: Hillary's War on Women
QUOTE: Being a defense attorney does not free one from the basic standards of right and wrong. The Nuremberg Defense did not work for soldiers. It certainly does not work for lawyers. That's just bullshi'ite. the Constitution says that the Hildabeest's client was innocent until the government proved he was guilty. The 'beest had an ethical obligation to use every means available that the Constitution allowed in the defense of an innocent man. you need to understand this, its not "innocent, yeah but we all know he dun it", its "innocent". you want a recipe for a real totalitarian government? substitute the presumption of innocence for a "yeah, but" form of prosecution where the defense actively participates with the prosecutor: see, commie show trials, Roland Freisler, etc. if the 'beest did anything less the Constitution mandated the conviction be reversed based on ineffective assistance of counsel. the Nuremberg defense claim is a complete non sequitur, as the author certainly knows and, no doubt rightly assumes his audience does not. if you don't like it, repeal the 6th Amendment, lobby congress for constitutional limitations on 6A rights, or don't be a public defender or private defense counsel. QUOTE: But the Constitution does not mandate that the accused must have a lawyer. Only that he has a right to one if he can find one. wrong again. in most criminal cases, there is a right to have an attorney and have the effective assistance of an attorney: 6th Amendment, 14th Amendment, USSC in Gideon v. Wainwright. either play by the rules or have the intellectual honesty to admit that you're not. I am not comfortable criticizing lawyers who defend unsavory clients because they are unsavory. As a point of history, when the ACLU defended the Nazis who wanted to parade in Skokie, Ill., I thought they were correct in principle - and I still do regardless of the fact that I detest both the ACLU and Nazis.
I have no problem with the fact that Hillary defended a rapist. I am a little uncomfortable with the tactics she used, but her job is to give a aggressive defense or her client. Lawyers have a lot of tools to use in that regard, but what seems to be nearly character assassination also seems pretty close to the line but I understand that it was part of her defense. So I don't disagree with your post. I would only say that the fact that the defense (Hitlery) laughed about her client's guilt is an outrage! I do not argue that she shouldn't have tried her best to win her case or even that she shouldn't have some pride in her performance, but to be giddy about the fact that she kept a child rapist on the streets is hideous and given her self anointed position as the defender of all women from the onslaught of Republican women haters, the height of hypocrisy! Sort like it wasn't rape rape (to quote Whoopi Goldberg). "Even a goddamn werewolf is entitled to legal counsel." - HST, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
I agree with you 100%, still, having been there myself, I wonder if she's ever re-crossed that particular Rubicon. It probably wouldn't matter. Most folks on her team have special dispensation.
