We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Time for a Special Prosecutor


Peggy Noonan: A Tale of Two Scandals.


It's the job of the press to hold everybody's feet to the fire, and to carry nobody's water (to the fire, as it were). The American press had a reputation for fearless pursuit of the truth, once upon a time. Or maybe that's a myth. Still, as the MSM has turned Progressive-partisan over the past 40 years or so (thus resulting in the emergence Conservative radio, FOX, etc), press fearlessness is gone.

I had some hopes that the media would wake up to the fact that they were being used when an AP reporter was under surveillance from the Department of Justice (cute name, eh?), but it didn't matter to the rest of the press. Maybe it was because it was only one (James Rosen from Fox News was also being watched but he doesn't count because as we all know, Fox News is faux news).

I doubt the MSM was fair and pursued the truth if it didn't suit their cause. It is just that compared to today, they were Solomon!

The press lost it a century ago during the Wilson Administration and have been in the Progressive bag almost a century ago. They looked away when he was completely incapacitated and his wife ran the government during the last few years of his administration.

They have been covering every Republican scandal scrupulously since then - starting with Tea Pot Dome - and ignoring every Democrat scandal they could.

100 years ago today:

June 23, 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand (1863-1914) was assassinated in Sarajevo by Bosnian Serbs.

One wonders what MF commenters would have been saying about that? How many would have seen the Great War coming?
