Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. The IRS

From How are Obama and the IRS getting away with a blatant coverup?



 In Watergate, we were outraged that Nixon ordered the IRS to go after political foes — even though the IRS refused to do his bidding. A Nixon ally was forced to whine that the IRS was controlled by Democrats.
There was evidently little or no evidence that IRS power was abused, because the second Article of Impeachment against Nixon charged merely that he “endeavored” to sic the IRS on enemies.


In the Obama administration, on the other hand, we know that the IRS went after political foes. We don’t know whether the president was involved, but if Nixon’s IRS had targeted liberals because it believed it had an implicit go-ahead from the boss, wouldn’t that be fairly disturbing also? Would a breezy dismissal from Nixon make you feel better?

I personally am shocked at how powerless the head of the Executive Branch is to stop wrongdoing by government bureaucrats. Even given the weakness of the Office of the President, you'd think that he could join forces with the Legislative Branch to do battle against the monster that both have created over many long years and unleashed upon the unsuspecting citizenry. Nor does it seem that the President is willing to introduce the forward observers necessary for the Judicial Branch to lay in a suppressing bombardment.

I agree. I'm so disillusioned in the design of our government. We need real fundamental change! The executive should be able to fire people in government who break the law.

On a more serious note, I don't believe government workers should be able to take the fifth when testifying about their official duties (only their private lives).

Just as the Democrats closed ranks when Clinton was impeached they are closing ranks on these crimes as well. The Democrat party more closely resembles the Mafia then a "democratic" party. Their goal is power and money and anything that interferes with that goal must be destroyed. I don't really think anything Obama and his criminal conspiracy does will outrage them.

Honestly, what is most disheartening is the difference between peoples' reactions to what Nixon did and peoples' reactions to what is happening now. When Nixon's scandal broke, people were horrified that a president would go so far. The assumption was, that no president had acted this way before.

Sadly, today, I hear from many people that 'all politicians' are corrupt. There is nothing we can do about it. Voting doesn't really matter because both parties are equally bad. Etc.

It is this attitude that makes Obama's constant scandals appear to be nothing different than what 'every' politician does. People just don't seem to care or assume that nothing will change, so why bother?

That infuriates me. I believe there are many Americans out there who are desperately wanting a President to come in and clean house. Even though the polls may say differently, I think most people DO want to see a complete overhaul of government. If we could elect someone who would do the hard task of firing, downsizing, restructuring the monster that the federal government has become, I believe most Americans would come around. The claims of the left must be proven false by action. That is the only way.

Scott Walker is doing this in his state. In 2 years (I think) he got rid of a huge deficit. He took power away from the Unions and nothing bad happened. Etc.

I am BEGGING Republicans to look at this example of what has worked. Yes, there was upset. Yes, there was shouting and childish behavior and threats. But Walker stuck to his guns and made incredible changes in a short period of time that greatly benefitted his state. Stop listening to the whiners, complainers, etc. Stick to your guns and DO something.

When a new President steps into office he does not automatically get a new government. The next President may have all the best intention and may effectively use the bully pulpit, he still has many bureaucrats working against him from within. Remember there are still many Clinton operatives in Washington.
My point is, there are so many progressives in our Federal Government now it may be a self perpetuating phenomenon that these scandals continue. It may no longer take a conspiracy of a person at the top pulling the strings.
