We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
“The ones we are losing are convicted felons, aliens from special interest countries, and other high risk individuals. We are so overwhelmed and preoccupied by the flood of juveniles and family units that we cannot use our resources to catch the more serious aliens,” the agent states.
The USA is being played for fools, naive fools. If you want to join our club, apply for membership.
A warning shot went out tonight with Cantor losing his primary. I'd expect some self-serving changes in immigration positions are happening tonight.
Perhaps the juvenile flood was a DemProg plan to get their special interest country compatriots into the county. And, oh the sweet irony, if one of Obama's recently released buds entered or turns out to be running some of them.
An excellent idea, but it won't work in practice. The pro-illegal advocates use the term immigration to always mean "path to green card and citizenship". They will never acknowledge a non-immigrant visa as a solution to the problem because the main goal is citizenship for every illegal.
Its a cheap, lying, fraudulent debate tactic; never let them define debate parameters.
But it DID work in practice. The Bracero program was not without it's problems, but it was a successful guest worker program that benefitted both US employers and Mexican workers.
Some employers did exploit Braceros, but illegal laborers experience far worse exploitation now - and without any of the recourses they had enjoyed as legal guest workers.
And there was still a bit of illegal immigration even during the Bracero program's heyday. But nowhere near the levels we've seen since the labor unions managed to kill the program.
But I see that you don't mean the idea wouldn't work - just that it would never be ALLOWED to work by those same progressives who killed it off in the first place. It didn't serve the interests of the unions to have temporary employees that couldn't be organized (though that's what they got anyway). And now that the power of those unions is waning, it doesn't serve the interests of the elites they've put into power to have temporary residents that can't be formed into a permanent, bought-and-paid-for voting block.
It's hard to believe that this isn't intentional. I think Obamaand the Democrats intended to cause a run on the borders and uncontrolled mass illegal immigration. I think that this is part of the softening up process to tax us into poverty and overwhelm us with problems so that "they" must take powers not allocated to them by the constitution to "fix" it.
Cantor's defeat is good news. BUT do not forget that Cantor and his fellow pro-illegal alien congressmen will remain in office for almost six more months. I fear what a pissed off lame duck congress and a virulent anti-American president can do in six months.
With about 1/4th of Americans out of work or under employed I simply not convinced we "need" temp/guest/seasonal workers. I am in favor of stopping ALL immigration both legal and illegal until we can make a huge effort to find and deport all the illegals already here. After that I would be in favor of a nationwide popular vote to decide if we "need" legal immigration.
As for the H1B workers (and the other visa types) end it! We never "needed" them it was simply that corporations wanted them instead of American workers becasue they could pay them less and work them harder. End it.
