We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Amazing. I've seen the same thing in other large cities and it always inspires awe and introspection. I stand looking and wondering why anyone would want to l1ve in a place where lying on the grass means being 10' away from someone else doing the same. I'll take my yard where I can sit all day and never see another human.
I had to google Sheep Meadow. I think this picture might sum up everything I would hate about NYC. My first reaction was "What are these people doing?" A concert? The world's biggest picnic? I can't imagine living near so many people that my idea of getting away to a quiet place is sharing a lawn with thousands of strangers. I would get more peace from mowing this lawn than being one of the people in the photo.
