We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
OK, fair enough. Missing plane it is. NORAD tracks 23, 000 objects in orbit around the earth and everything flying anywhere near North America. The Japanese keep tabs on all of the whales and Godzilla, so they are off the hook on this one. The NSA inhales every electronic signal generated on or near the earth. The FBI, CIA and a bunch of other agencies monitor pretty much everything in triplicate including what I sing to myself in the shower. So, what gives? It is either true that all of that monitoring is vastly overrated or it was some kind of spy mission. Now, they are figuring out how to leak the truth mixed in with a bunch of fake info to deflect critics. First, they have to placate the Chinese and Malay governments for losing their people. I see Joe Biden entertaining some foriegn leaders in ways best left unstated in his future. Then, they have to make a secret agreement to float some BS story about how the pilot had an episode and before they knew what happened, the plane was somewhere it wasn't supposed to be and either got shot down or ditched. Then, they saturate the media with all sorts of nutty theories and factoids. After more time, they begin to release bits of the real story interspersed with lots of balony. The story becomes the subject of many conspiracy movies and books, life goes on and the aliens in control of our space missions are protected. Do I win?
Hot MAJOR POTENTIAL NEWS: This from a major American source, and I had originally discarded this possibility because of terrain, and potential radar coverage, and distance. I had figured more likely Bangladesh, but this source is high end, and fresh. So........
I used the seashore gambit earlier in my partial tongue in cheek entry for expediency, because of the Malaysian behavior as highly reflective of complicity in the tragedy. I do not wish to comment on the fate of the passengers, time will tell, sadly, likely. I can only think of two sad scenarios, unimaginable to normal sentient humans, but such individuals who do this type of thing are far from normal sentient beings as increasing populations are slowly learning.....
I still have a lot of difficulty imagining a flight route, into Pakistan, running on fumes, avoiding radar. But there are a lot of airstrips hanging around near the coast, maybe inland too. But 4400 s. miles out of optimal fuel management range of 6000 s. miles, how? Especially with the route screwing around maneuvers and low altitude flight, would have cut range to somewhere likely of 4500 to 4800 s. miles, if lucky. Stranger and stranger. Looks like everyone should be on guard, anywhere in the West.
"Boeing Source: Missing Plane Is in Pakistan
The Malaysian government reportedly is investigating the possibility that missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 avoided radar detection and landed in Pakistan near the Afghanistan border inside Taliban-controlled territory, according to the UK Independent. A ....... analyst received information from a source at Boeing that the company believes the plane did land in Pakistan."
Yep, just the sort of garbled information I predicted would be forthcoming. And next, we will be asked to submit to random roadside strip searches in case the plane is refueled by tribal elders who have been distilling goat dropping for ten years in preparation for this mission. They lack only the signal flares to guide them in. Which the strip searches will be looking for. Jettison all flare guns and signal flares or risk enhanced interrogation by the wise folks running homeland insecurity. Oh, and wear clean underpants for god's sake.
I feel so sorry for the families, still waiting after ten days without even a piece of wreckage to help them move forward. That sliver of hope must be so painful...
Rationally speaking, the passengers are lost - regardless of whether or not the plane itself landed intact. But how could you give up hope??? I know if it were me, I wouldn't be able to let go of hoping for a positive outcome without some sort of proof involved. Those poor people must be in agony. At least the media seem to be giving them some breathing room finally.
As the peasants of Peru don't worry a lot about the Crimea, soon either will we and for the same reason. We are becoming a third world shithole with a elite and leadership that steals all the wealth and decides the course of elections years in advance.
Still glad that you didn't encourage the bastards by voting last time?
