We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
When a state declares "droughts" 8 years out of 10, those aren't really droughts. They're simply signs that the state has refused to build enough dams, because of runaway eco-nut-ism.
As for politics, that's pretty much a dead end here. The state's 41% minority of registered Democrats have gerrymandered us so successfully that they now have 2/3 majorities in both houses, and are unlikely ever to lose them. (32% are Republicans, 2% are minor parties, and the other 25% are independents like me, but we don't matter here.)
There is now a petition circulating that would divide California into six states. I'm going to vote for it, but I'm sure the Angelenos will kill it. In their view, the rest of the state exists to provide THEM with water and tax revenue.
The Left continues to destroy the design margin in the country.
If you have plenty to eat, I guess it is easy to just dump water into the ocean. But what happens when there is not enough food to go around? What then? I guess rationing will be the answer, the better to control the peons and their obesity.
Make no mistake, this all about power and control. It has nothing to do with the environment.
Google the Colorado River and see where it used to end up (Mexico). Now search around and see where it turns into dribbles (AZ). Can't have that! Don't you know there are farmers in AZ too! And, they have so many reasons why we the people must give them more water for their farms than we give the central valley CA farmers. Wanna guess what power base is AZ? It's no secret that AZ is owned and operated by Las Vegas--oh, woops, guess who else needs some of that good ol California water from the Colorado River? This is not at all about developing a healthy farming industry in our nation--this is about control. And, those mobsters want it all!
