It's not hopeless, ladies

Forever Young? 20 of the Hottest Women Over 60 Years Old. 65 is the old 45. All it takes is some care, some flair, some estrogen, some exertion, and a little cash for teeth, hair, and skin.

Yea, and don't forget Photoshop and pictures taken years ago. Not very persuasive.

Actually, I've seen a few in person and while these pictures are either old or photoshopped, as the case may be, they are still very attractive.

Lynda Carter and Stevie Nicks. Argh. High School fantasy stuff. Hard for me to see them any other way than how I remember them when I was 16.

I saw Cheryl Tiegs recently, too. She's in this age group. She has aged very well. So has Lindsay Wagner.

Money, surgery and good publicists can do wonders for your image.

But some of these women have natural beauty that is allowing them to age well (with or without some human intervention).

It takes money, care, time and attention, and it also takes a lucky dip in the gene pool.

Too bad they stayed on this side of the ocean... I mean, no Helen Mirren. But yet, Dianne Keaton. I think Jeannette has it worked out, "lucky dip in the gene pool". Speaking of... Dr. Bliss gets a whimsy now and then, that's all.

Same basic formula for men and women. Stay is decent shape. Don't drink too much. Get some sleep. Don't let stress overwhelm you.

Don't smoke - the smokers my age can be spotted from 50 yards - yellow teeth, off-color skin, wrinkles.

Drinking and smoking.
I dated a woman, when I was much younger, who I began to realize drank too much. Thing is I NEVER saw her drink. One day I confronted her and she admitted it. I realized she drank too much because her hair was drying out and had split ends, yet she took great care in making it look good. It was a change that became evident to me after watching 2 of my good friends descend into alcoholism. I realized one of the first telltale signs was their hair turning brittle.

Smoking increases the lines on the fact, you can usually tell a aged smoker by the pinched look and creases from the muscle activity of drawing smoke. That, in addition to all the other physical detriments it brings along with it.

Is it any surprise that as Hollywood actors aged, years ago when smoking was prevalent, many didn't age well? Meanwhile, today, with smoking greatly reduced, they are aging considerably better.

What does it mean to us when when we say someone, male or female, has aged well? There is, I suppose, the obvious physical part but... but... There is something to be said for how people look, and behave, when they are comfortable with who they are regardless of their age. Aging gracefully is, to this old fart who is almost certainly failing at it, beautiful to see.

I can't bear the "Cat Woman" look of the plastic surgery devotees. Yuck! Or women (or men for that matter) who continue to dress themselves or, worse yet, use makeup, as if they were 30 years younger. People obviously well into their 60s or 70s with jet black hair - men and women. Please. There is a couple who uses the same grocery as I do - they are comical. And she manages to walk, if one can call it that, in heels bordering on stilleto. If it wasn't so amusing it would be, well, disgusting.

It's superficial. Nothing more or less.
It's good to consider more in the equation, if you have that luxury, or are so disposed.

I'll stick with superficial for my Hollywood fantasies.

I just saw Sally Fields on Carson yesterday (TCM, recorded) and Susan Sarandon reminds me strongly of Sally. I was going to say they all look good to me, but then I saw Diane Keaton.

Good try. While most of these examples are extroardinary outliers, I found very few to be actually attractive to me a 52 yo. I'm not buying the meme of older attractive woman other than my mother, my wife and other close female friends and family.

My wife is 47 and still very attractive but if G forbid anything were to happen to her I would not look to replace her with another 47 yo. I would target 10-15 years younger than me at least. I am young looking, tall and very fit so should have decent opportunities in that age range. Sorry older ladies.

For a man looking for a prospective mate a woman is selected by her beauty/sexuality however that individual defines these attributes. For a woman beauty in a prospective mate is secondary or lower and her choice is based on the man's ability to support a family. This is an observation that I believe is generally true but no doubt has many exceptions.
