We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Its all the systemic destruction of the individual, and his 'norms' - concept of freedom, self determination, responsibility, and 'communal urges' (family, relationships, faith, ect). With their erosion, the individual becomes nothing more than cattle or a serf.

Its not an alternate though path, its tool to enslave man and destroy his individualism

Wow. Interesting reflection of "all-or-nothing" overgeneralization of EVERYTHING. And, implicit denial that this "science" referred to is obviously a narrow religious definition . . . without "scientific method" to ground it. And what "religion" is that? . . . . oh, it is the falsely defined h8ters religion that is not referenced by anything other than personal prejudice and bigotry . . .

That a significant number of people would prefer that those guilty of willfully taking a life be spared when found guilty but totally innocent babies (at any time prior to birth - and for some even after birth) are fair game because it might inconvenience the mother and that the arguments in support of their position are circular and/or illogical (capital punishment is not "ultimate" because it is rarely carried out or is discriminatory). This is evidence of a truly sick society where many are not able to form a morally coherent thought or engage in enough critical thinking to make a logical argument. I would bet that most of those people are the product of a public education.

By golly, this is the question I have been waiting for. Where indeed do those turtles go? I have a theory. I think those baby turtles will help me find Osama Bin Laden's hiding place. So, my Cuban Liberation Cadre and I will be conducting a combined seaborne landing exercise and search for Bin Laden among the baby turtle tribes floating in the Caribbean region. It's no secret that tall dark complected individuals have been spotted on some of the islands in the area and floating in boats in the sea for some years now. We believe Bin Laden may be hiding among them. For this endeavor, I will need to be out of blog range for some time. Wish me luck.

Having had direct experience with the LEED certification process and what it entails, I have always thought it was junk. Have you seen some of the 'points' you can earn? It's a feel-good measure that makes people feel superior for having their 'green' building. Many of the points don't involve anything with energy saving at all...bike racks gets you points as does how many windows you have (how does this save heating costs in the winter time exactly? or cooling costs in the summer?).

And for this lovely certification, you get to pay extra to the LEED certifier! Yes, you can't officially be LEED until you pay up thousands of dollars. What a joke.

Did you know billions were awarded last year to make embassies around the world LEED certified? How do you even find low-VOC products in the middle of Africa? Or energy-efficient heating/cooling units? Lots of extra taxpayer dollars spent on this mumbo jumbo.

Obama's wisdom for teens and his new plan, well, sociology majors may have work for a year or two. BTW, how is his plan different from say Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Scouts, the various "Y"s, and other voluntary efforts?

Serious times require serious men, yet, the tranzis are what we have. We should recognize our national interest is and defending Ukraine is not part of it.
