Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

David Brooks Advocates More Executive Branch Power Good grief. What a putz. A superficial thinker but a fairly glib writer. The spoiled rich kid defense sounds like a natural for a Law and Order episode. Reminds me of the serious coin some Long Island towns make renting luxury jail cells for misdemeanor federal and state offenses to the deep pockets crowd. Will there be a legislative fix or does money talk?
The Brooks piece is yet another reminder the yearning for a new Caesar has to be watched and squashed. Sounds like everyone is for unions until it inconveniences them. Though the thought of MSNBC hosts doing a walkout in solidarity is amusing. I see that we have a pattern here in MT. We have of course had the community activists who were moved into town by their handlers in Seattle. Every Monday morning now we get 2 or 3 claims of rape on campus. This is an organized response led by the women "handlers/agents of change" who lost the court battle last year against one of our football players. They have stepped up the action.
Now of course we have the young woman who "accidentally, cause I was mad" pushed her bridegroom over the ledge in Glacier Park. Eight days married and couldn't get the sex thing right! We have the judge in Ravalli county who refused to hear a sexual harassment case by a white male sheriff against a white female on the force who stuck her finger up his ass "just playing" in the office don't you know! Yup that judge found his way to the heart of power (Seattle). The next time you hear someone call themselves "agents of change" you run--then throw up because you have just met women who are only controlled by exterior handlers--not by any sense of self discipline. And, then when they are turned loose to wonder the world they end up in an Italian court on murder charges. Read here for the story of the Montana murderess: http://missoulian.com/news/local/more-testimony-report-will-factor-into-graham-murder-sentence/article_e4c5c060-645e-11e3-b3bc-001a4bcf887a.html My point being that it is beginning to be obvious the great damage that we have done to our daughters during the past 25 years. My hunch is that this gal will get off very lightly--my other hunch is that somewhere underground her and her girlfriends are having a sick giggle. What?
Another school shooting in Colorado? Does anyone else wonder about this? I am assuming that most folks know by now that evil actions are frequently co-ordinated by people other than those who actually commit the crime. I am just wondering: does this cluster of school shooting events lead to some one trying to prove a point? Someone close enough to students who can always find the weakest who can be convinced to do stupid things? "Women's Rights Activist": Story just writes itself.
Brooks: Likely voted for Weiner. The RICH: Gettin' off easy. E-mail from Prof: Destruction? But NO! Just good advice, straight out. Hoarding: How big will the Anti-Hording/Help-The -Hoarders-Quit office be, and how much taxes will be wasted there ($, as %=100)? I also thought that the prof's email was matter-of-fact. While it may have destroyed the student’s argument, I don’t believe it was intended to destroy the student personally. But, you really never can tell how sensitive and/or stressed a student is. I’ve never regretted being too gentle.
"Has our society reached a point where it is too stupid to survive?"
After nearly a hundred years of creeping totalitarianism with leaders chosen by the lowest common denominator and a government, legal and educational system all geared exclusively toward protecting and subsidizing the weak, lazy, incompetent and dim witted how could it be anything but. How ironic is it that the people who rant the loudest about teaching evolution in our schools are the ones who have the least inkling how it works. I notice all this cold weather seems to coincide with a drop in solar activity (http://www.space.com/23934-weak-solar-cycle-space-weather.html). I had no idea SUVs, coal electric plants, and cow farts had such an impact. Up till now, I just thought they influenced weather on the earth, but if it's cooling the sun too! Man are we in trouble!
I think you're right about that idiot Schultz (wasn't he a fat corporal in German POW camp in the '70s?). I think it's the same for all lefties. It reminds me of Whoopie Goldberg excusing Roman Polanski for raping an underage girl: "It's not like it was rape rape".
Global warming is like Santa Claus.
It was devised by Europeans to make children act right. Debases real facts. Rests on implausible precepts. Defies the laws of nature. Uses your chimney. And it won't come while you are watching for it. HERE WE GO AGAIN! You want some prosciutto with those cataloupes/muscmellons? Ya know, it's a popular snack/light luncheon in Roma. (Interpret that as you wish.)
