Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Dear MF:
If you want visible proof of the collaboration between the communists and the corporations of Seattle just take your wives and daughters clothes shopping in Seattle, or Bellevue, or Lynnwood, etc. At the end of the afternoon they will say something like this: "wow Nordstrom here is sure not what it's like in LAX". You might also hear "geez every store has the same thing--you can hardly tell if your in Nordstrom's or Macy's !" Do you know why that is?: because the communist women's leadership of the pacific Northwest wants plain women to feel equal to pretty women--even their clothes models all look very plain and similar. No woman should have access to "unique and wonderful styles or fabrics" In fact, I don't believe there is even a fabric shop left open with the exception of JoAnn's nation-wide chain. Sooo--- if you have a woman in your life who is still thinking that the Dems are wonderful just take them shopping in Seattle! Even in the Nordstrom's home front store--they place where they began--the ladies will be very disappointed!! Speaking of clothing, unisex, and . . .
http://www.navytimes.com/article/20131112/NEWS07/311120001 re ethanol:
From the Daily Caller The agency has lowered the amount of ethanol that must be blended into U.S. fuel supplies from 16.55 billion gallons in 2013 to 15.21 billion gallons in 2014. The refining industry warned the agency earlier this year that refiners were reaching the maximum amount of ethanol that could safely be blended into the fuel supply, known as the “blendwall.” The industry welcomed the reduced blending requirements, but warned that this did not address long term problems. “While we are pleased that EPA has taken steps to avoid the blendwall in 2014, we remain concerned that the proposed rule leaves open the possibility that the biofuel mandates will exceed the maximum amount of ethanol that can be safely added to our gasoline supply,” said Charles Drevna, president of the American Fuels & Petrochemical Manufacturers." http://dailycaller.com/2013/11/15/epa-scales-back-ethanol-mandate/ So this is either a baby step towards curtailing the use of ethanol or it is simply a concession to reality. I see know effort being put forth to end the program. Looks to me like ethanol will continue to roll, at least for the next couple of years. The ironic thing about the corn to ethanol story is it takes about 130% of energy from fossil fuel to create the 100% of energy in the ethanol. To add insult to injury once mixed with gasoline not only does the price of the gas go up but the actual energy in the gas goes down yielding less MPG. The ethanol from corn debacle is a lose/lose/win situation. That is the consumer loses with higher costs, lower net energy and damage to cars and small gas engines. The environment loses with a net increase in energy used with a decrease in utility plus a degradation of the land because marginal lands are planted in corn to meet the need. But there is a win for corn farmers and politicians who have brought this boondoggle to corn farmers.
Lose/lose is right!
Actually, the corn farmers are not benefitting either as this over-planting of one crop is ruining the soil. Iowa looks nothing like it did a decade ago. Moving during circumcision is very dangerous!
California: As the old saying was, Land of Fruits and Nuts. I hear agriculture paid better, then. Ah, Paullie "The Beard" Krugman. Get things wrong and won't admit it; changes his mind on things and won't admit it (favors Dems, doncha know). Obama: "System" at fault--HIS system! Syrian Rebels: Cut 'em some slack, guys! Preferably at the neck. Ain't nobody perfect! Bel Aire, KS: When are we gonna call this the Unaffordable Care Act? Oprah: Why her popularity has slipped, and continues downward. IRS Screw-up: Not the first, not the last. I'd say something about the unCivil Servants, but don't really need to. Palis: Not liked by other Arabs for 65 years, except as a verbal club to beat Israelis. Genesis 17:11--Circumcision is the sign of Abraham's covenant with God.
But you knew that. The US Government in DC has long coveted the control of water. It will control the people in the West because no one can grow anything without supplemental water. I don't know the status of the 'Law of the Sea Treaty' currently, but it was supposed to snap up all water for UN control. It is a part of Agenda 21 which destroys all private property rights and forces people off the land, into big cities. The EPA is enforcing a defacto Law of the Sea Treaty probably because 'they' can't force the treaty through the Senate.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/2305083/PrincetonEducated-Blacks-and-the-Black-Community Sorry, I originally posted this item about Mead in the wrong thread. Repeated here.
Wm Russell Mead: "New York residents are also paying more for utilities than anyone in the country. Consolidated Edison (Con Ed) which supplies electricity to New York City, charges 25.65 cents per kilowatt hour for electricity" Where does this guy, Mead, get his information from? He doesn't know what he's talking about. The charge for electricity on Oahu in Hawaii is close to 35 (!) cents per kWh. The rate charged on smaller islands like Molokai is even higher. That's why I installed a PV system. With the federal and state tax credits, the payback period of my installation is about 4 years. Re: Oprah If white Americans are so racist, who made Oprah a billionaire? Not her brothers and sisters in the 'hood, that's for sure. I'm tired of the whining by AAs and their guilt-ridden white fellow travelers. Oprah, just shut up. Go away. Far away. Just not Switzerland, where you recently falsely claimed a lowly store clerk of racism. Funny that Tina Turner, a long time resident of Switzerland, never reported having problems with the Swiss. |
