Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Ted Cruz did not take the tea-party crown away from Marco Rubio. He picked it up after Rubio threw it into the dirt along the Southern border.
Under patriarchy when men [owned] women, rape was a serious crime, under feminism—and Norway with its departments of feminist equality is as feminist as can be had short of the feminist equivalent of the USSR—rape is barely a crime. Truth will out.
Ironically, they let Muslim gangs off easy for raping because it is their cultural tradition and, also, the white girl brought it on herself by dressing/acting in an enticing way.
The irony is, the feminists embrace that reasoning....for Muslims. Remember Norway is a civilized nation where mass murderers get a 21 year sentence and juvenile offenders get a free walk.
My excuse, I use a condom. Full disclosure though, I don't and never looked like that so I can't say I had her opportunities. Also, at my age, 50s, I consider it morally irresponsible to bring a child into this world as I'd be 70+ before it was legally able to care for itself.
As for a body like that, I'm a man, older one at that. The only way I can get close to a body like that is by making a lot of money. I think if you are chasing 3 toddlers 7 days a week, it is going to tend to make you fit and trim.
Dad says that when Mom was chasing after my sister and me (we were 14 mos apart), she could eat anything she wanted and still couldn't gain weight. Middlebury College suspends student in 9/11 flag grabbing: Daddy will find her another place to do her attention-whoring.
"Comprehensive immigration reform" is a left wing dog whistle for open borders. The problem that businesses have is they want to pay less for more work. What amnesty will do for them is make it possible for their captive workers to work anywhere since they will no olonger depend on those jobs which have traditionally hired them in total disregard of the law. When that happens the only solution for businesses that need large numbers of cheap laborers is to have more illegal immigration. This need for cheap labor and the lure that amnesty will create means that there will be an every increasing endless flow of illegal immigrants. It is doubtful that we can even absorb the 12-20 million the left want to give amnesty to never mind the 50 million to follow. Was Obamacare part of this great bait and switch scheme? After all who do you think wil pay and who do you think will get free insurance? The goal is and always has been to overwhelm the system and flood this country with people whose allegience lies elsewhere. A vast pool of potential voters and a huge need for more and higher taxes. A ready made system to take over the richest prize in the world. I understand the left's motives just like so many of the leftwing despots throughout history. What I don't understand is those who claim to be on the right. They will be the biggest losers from this coup so why the headlong plunge over the cliff? Ignorance? Stupidity? Perhaps the hope/belief that they can profit in the short term and by the time the chickens come home to roost they will be gone so no worries.
GTW: You nailed it ! Your description of actions, purpose, and intent are clear and accurate. What I do not understand is this:
if the Republican (conservatives) are so smart why in the hell can't they come up with a third alternative to ANY problem? For example: why don't they have the courage to go public with a unified statement about the true cause of "open borders". The true cause is over population in a totally corrupt country whose gangs of war lords are more effective than our police system. NOW we can discuss how to properly "help the poor and desperate immigrants". NOW, we can have a factual conversation about CAUSE--but, the Republicans never get that by answering to the liberal claim without having a new and unique claim of their own--they are always tagging behind looking stupid. A brief history of Arizona: it was nothing until the old men who built Las Vegas were told to go into retirement, so the next generation (their kids) could take over. That happened about 1970 +/- when they went south they "Built" Phoenix. They used illegal immigrant laborers for those beautiful Scottsdale homes. They used illegal Mexicans for just about every construction project that went on down there. The profit was immense. Why do you think the Master Builders Association of America is focused in that area?
Now--follow the bouncing ball--why do you think the service workers union (mostly illegal immigrants) is focused in Las Vegas? There are other great hotel/resort areas. Do any of you read maps? Look at a situation from the Geo-Political? CONNECTIONS !! Make the CONNECTION ! Had to comment on the Facebook picture to the side of this morning's link. Women's 'excuses' for not looking like Ms. Fitness:
1) Stretchmarks. Some women get horrible stretchmarks after several children. Women with darker skin are the worse off, because the stretchmarks are white and highly visible. Not all women are prone to this, however. 2) Extra skin. Some women do not have great skin elasticity after several children and have extra skin hanging around their middles, no matter how thin they are after having children. 3) Genetics. Some women, no matter how hard they try, cannot get their pre-baby bodies back. We get cellulite, fat in places that we didn't think possible, etc. 4) Age. The older you are when you have children, the worse off for your post-baby body. Not only are you combatting the affects of aging, weight loss gets harder as you age and your metabolism slows down. 5) Breastfeeding. If you breastfeed multiple children, gravity is not kind to you. Especially if you were a large-chested woman to begin with. Perky goes to droopy. No amount of weightlifting or dieting will help that. Only solution is surgical. Women do not need to feel guilt that they don't look like this lady after 3 kids. Not sure why she felt the need to make a lot of mothers feel they are inadequate. Thanks. Excellent response, Miss T.
I had only 2 kids, one at age 26, one at age 31. I was a skinny little white gal with fair skin and a genetic makeup that gave me 9 pound babies (I only gained 20-25 lbs with each one and lost it all immediately after giving birth) and acres of stretchmarks. I worked out for years and maintained 16% body fat, excellent aerobic condition, great muscle tone. But NOTHING could eliminate my genetic contributions of a thin, inelastic epidermis and large babies. I did everything possible to be in shape, but I could never have looked like Ms. Kang. Her challenging women to be in shape is not the issue. It is the unspoken message that all women can look like her after 3 babies by virtue of their own efforts, when she should be giving her gene pool at LEAST half the credit. It seems to me that the photo is as much about shallow attention seeking (it works!) as anything else. And I am amazed at the ignorance about women's bodies after pregnancy that this topic has exposed. I really did get a different message. One of hope not despair. One of encouragement not gloating or attention seeking. One of pride in her effort. Certainly none of us will ever look like movie stars or the lucky born with good genes. But most all of us could look better and a role model provides incentive and motivation. I really feel that the meanness vented on this lady is 100 times worse then anything she did. Be careful what you say, if she jumps off a tower and commits suicide the sheriff may come looking for you...
Wow. I don't think it is mean to share my own experience. I don't think anything I said would cause a person to commit suicide. Saying that seems mean, unless you are being hyperbolic and sarcastic. She is welcome to do what she did, and I am entitled to my opinion of it. We can disagree about her motivation for the photo, which is what I was referring to. We all see things through the lenses of our own experiences.
My comments weren't directed at you specifically. It is true you were only sharing your experience which of course is what the young lady in question was doing as well. And yes the part about her jumping off a tower was sarcastic in reference to the bullying incident and suicide in Florida recently.
But all that aside I really did think she was offering a positive message. I'm happy to see people doing positive things, working out, eating right, learning, whatever. For me to conclude she was intending to be condescending or "fat shaming" would require far more then what she has said and done.

"It is true you were only sharing your experience which of course is what the young lady in question was doing as well."
That was my reaction too. The hot anger people have directed at this woman---after having misconstrued her message---would lead you to think she was another Ted Cruz. Calm down people, she's a mother with three cute kids who's in fine shape. There's no need to hyperventilate.

missT. Thank you so very much on giving every unmotivated woman in the world the excuses she needs to not have the body/ fitness level she desires.
News Flash. YOU"RE NOT HELPING!!!! LOL. Sorry, but how would you feel if you had saggy skin and stretch marks and were told you could look just like this woman if only you dieted and worked out more? It won't happen.
So you are cool with having your wife strive for something unachieveable so that she is depressed and feels ugly? I feel sorry for your wife. I could've gone on a rampage about men who have no excuse AT ALL for being out of shape or overweight. Try gaining 40 pounds, birthing a baby, nursing it and then trying to look exactly like you did before this happened. NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR MOST WOMEN. Soooo . . . the tribe that runs JP Morgan buys their way out of criminal charges AGAIN! Sooo . . . you can count on the rest of us getting screwed again in the future. Their billion dollar fine is only a percentage of their total gross -- so we will all get screwed again and again and again . . . until such time as they are held accountable to the same criminal code as the rest of us.
I forgot to mention Janet Napolitano--as Governor of AZ and now head of education in California--any questions?
