We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
If the legal criteria are "incapable of performing any job," then I'd guess 45% is a low number. It doesn't take much to sweep out a CVS, and it's honest labor.
My guess is that number is closer to 90% being frauds. Truly disabled does not mean:
1) no jobs available in the place I want to live
2) jobs have standards that I cannot abide by (such as being on time, appropriately dressed, not drunk or high)
3) my job stresses me out and causes me emotional harm
4) I can't stop overeating or watching "Judge Judy."
I know someone in my family who is absolutely and truly disabled. He is the kind of man my money should be supporting. The fakers and liars disgust me.
