Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I hope the Park Service keeps it up. People with no political awareness at all are being forced to realize what kind of thug government we now have.
From the party of compassion, we get armed jack booted park rangers whose mission is to deny people the ability to commune with nature (not to mention, soldiers visiting their privately funded memorial).
Agree with mudbug and NJ Soldier.
Many people have limited contact with government employees. If dems think that the current Park Ranger behavior should be the face of Government during the so-called shut down, then I believe they are making a huge error. However, I also truly believe this type of behavior is what the dems would prefer to be exhibited towards all the little people. One would think there will be a backlash. You'd think so, but my Facebook page is full of distressing posts from old friends and schoolmates saying things like, "I think it's terrible how people are getting in the face of hard-working park rangers who are just trying to do their jobs, while the terrible Republicans are shutting down the government." They're clearly not drawing the same lesson I am.
I'll never look at a Federal Park Ranger the same again. They just descended to the same level of scum as ATF and IRS Agents in my mind.
Has anyone stopped to wonder how strange this is?
The Government is supposed to be shut down, meaning the employees stay home. And yet, the park service people are still working. So if they are still working, why not keep the parks open instead of bullying and running people off? It doesn't add up. No more average people? I feel so special.
"Good grief. No balls, indeed." And that is why there is a war on boys in education. The first thing you have to fix to fix Motor City is the demographics. As long as it is a majority vibrant culture led by corrupt vibrant political leaders, it is doomed.
The only way to really fix Detroit is one of two ways -
1 - sell it to the Chi-coms 2- megatons You do the math.... =) Historic blizzard kills tens of thousands of South Dakota cattle:
"An unusually early and enormous snowstorm over the weekend caught South Dakota ranchers and farmers unprepared, killing tens of thousands of cattle and ravaging the state's $7 billion industry — ... As many as 75,000 cattle have perished since the storm slammed the western part of the state Thursday through Saturday with snowfall that set records for the entire month of October in just three days, state and industry officials said. Across the state, snow totals averaged 30 inches, with some isolated areas recording almost 5 feet, The South Dakota Stock Growers Association estimated that 15 percent to 20 percent of all cattle were killed in some parts of the state. Some ranchers reported that they lost half or more of their herds. The storm was accompanied by hurricane-force wind gusts, especially Friday night, .." Whoops. Forgot to include the link:

We're all doomed if we don't donate now to the Holy Climate Church of Al Gore.
We never claimed global warming wouldn't make it get a lot colder! You've got to trust the science.
The biggest lament is that the FSA or USDA office is closed so they can't file for disaster benefits.
There were two things that destroyed Detroit; The Democrats and fraud. We may never know where the billions went. We may never find out whose palms were crossed with silver for what favors or which politicians retired rich and happy with the taxpayers money. But that in a nutshell is what happened. It wasn't simply bad management or inept politicians it was criminal activity pure and simple. Detroit fell to a particular arm of the Dishonest Democrat Cabal ; the black Mafia. They took everything they could from the government and spent it bought favors and gave it to friends. They did this in New Orleans they are doing it in Chicago and Atlanta and other big cities across the country. They will continue to do it until someone prosecutes them and puts them in jail.
One wonders how systemic brazen theft is at the Federal level?
I have recently read some outrageous stories about Fed employees looting the treasury. Sounds like the chance of getting caught is slim and the chance of being prosecuted is far slimmer still. Make that three things. The demographic change was a major driver of depressing property values and tax revenues.
Dogs are people: Most dog owners would agree. Bird Dog certainly seems to be.
Fusion: Encouraging. Greenies will be upset, and complain and litigate against it. Dogs may be people like but they are also dogs and have needs unique to dogs that a lot of owners (sorry dogs) don't understand that lead to behavior issues. Dogs are pack animals that operate best when their human companion acts as their clear pack leader.
I've always said that the Greenies would find some microscopic life-form that the fusion process would endanger, ala the Snail-darter.
Its too much to have man proceed into the future, without the roadblocks the Progs and Leftists constantly throw up, and their malevolence and guidance. Re: Sowell's Inarticulate Republicans. It's obviously easier for the president to be the chief spokesman for his party than it is for a party out of favor to have just one person speak for all of them, but the Republicans have spent many years refining this bit of rhetorical and political incompetence to a very high degree. And when one of their own actually dares to speak directly to the people, as Ted Cruz has done, establishment Republicans do everything in their power to undermine him, even going so far as to talk stink to media reporters (like Chris Wallace) under the cover of anonymity.
When Boehner recently came out to talk to reporters, my wife and I said to each other that he was the worst person the Republicans could pick to defend their position. On a personal level, John Boehner could be the sweetest guy in the world, but before a microphone he oozes inside-the-Beltway slime. The president can lie and curse out his opponents, and with the help of the biased media he gets his message across. The media clearly does its very best to bury whatever good or sensible things the Republicans have to say, but I can guarantee that nobody---absolutely nobody---outside of DC is listening to the tanned man in the well-pressed suit. The Republicans need a spokesperson who pulls no punches, speaks the same language as the average voter, and actually looks like his love for America and commitment to the American people comes before his love for inside-the-Beltway politics. With all the money the RNC spends on public relations, you'd think that maybe one of their PR "experts" would tell them that the Republican Speaker of the House is the wrong spokesman for the party and that they need to do a lot better in the PR wars. I'm waiting for one of the RNC PR genusis to realize that a simple commercial with just BO's words would be far more effective than the stammering, slack-jaw'd responses that are normally offered.
Why not enlist the blogesphere? There are MANY talented writers, coders, and personalities whom would jump at the change. Ever hear of the People's Cube? Their presentations are satire, but roaring funny, and also highlight the leftists\Progs and their shenanigans. PJ Media has ample knowledge of media presentations and could be used to pipeline almost anything into the internets. But, its just plain odd that the common man can see this, and the hearlds of the party are blind - its almost like they self-enforce ignorance and ambivalence upon themselves, and wear their blinders and rose-coloured classes with pride. The first step is to recognize there is an issue, then have the spine and fortitude to solve the problem. I guess politics is its own form of dependance... Ignoring the assumption that having emotions means dogs are human, what kind of sociopath needs an MRI to recognize that dogs have emotions?
