We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
My roommate for my freshman year in college was from the West Side of NYC. He said that he once saw Richard Nixon walking on the sidewalk-this was during RMN's years as a NY lawyer.
The best famous person story in NYC I heard came from my uncle. One day when he was entering Grand Central Station to commute back to his suburb, he saw LBJ and Bobby in a limousine outside Grand Central. LBJ was shaking a finger at Bobby. The body language my uncle saw indicated that LBJ was not happy- nor was Bobby Kennedy happy.
Which reminds me of America’s Nastiest Blood Feud, a review of one of Robert Caro's books on LBJ. LBJ and RFK didn't have warm fuzzies for each other.
My mom was having lunch in NY with my little brother who was about 5 during the Sesame Street heyday. He insisted that the man in the table next to them was Gordon from Sesame Street, my mom didn't believe him, but he got up and ran over to the man, embarrassing my mother, but proving that he was right, it was Gordon.

Happy to report that not one famous or infamous person lives in or near our town, unless they're really laying low. Best part is we don't waste precious time going on about them.
