Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

RE: Golden Rice - its amazing how this $335mil Non-Profit can pull this, and say they're 'for' the planet, yet sponsor this travesty and outright Ehrlich-esque show for those in desperate need to prevent blindness and a life of misery - and kids too!
Maybe the French were onto something in Kiwi-land... Very convenient, so many people that are on my "do not watch" list in one film.
QUOTE: Not every district can afford to quit. The National School Lunch Program provides cash reimbursements for each meal served: about $2.50 to $3 for free and reduced-priced meals and about 30 cents for full-price meals. That takes the option of quitting off the table for schools with large numbers of poor youngsters. A lesson in taking that "free money" from the government. At some point, they will use it to control you. Take it if you must, take it as an extra, but be very careful about ever becoming dependent upon it. Do not increase your routine expenses based upon the receipt of this money. The same goes for routine overtime. Use the money after it is earned but do not come to need the overtime to meet your monthly nut. It is extra, otherwise "It's a Trap". Or is the lesson that local governments should not afraid to cut expenses elsewhere and/or raise taxes if they want to add something else to the plate?
Of course gun laws don't work. There's a simple logical formula that perfectly explains it to logical thinkers.
4 theoretical states of non law enforcement gun ownership: 1. Everyone have guns 2. Only law abiding citizens have guns 3. No one have guns 4. Only criminals have guns But only 2 states of gun ownership are possible in reality: 1. Everyone have guns 4. Only criminals have guns Options 2 and 3 are not stable states: Option 2 always stabilizes as 1 Option 3 always stabilizes as 4 Of course, the grabbers think that it's possible to have the following theoretical situation:
Only government has guns Which is the definition of a police state. Ah, but even in the Soviet Union and, especially, East Germany, the criminals had guns.
And here in the U.S., in Chicago and Philadelphia for example, the criminals have guns. To be fair, those criminals often have badges as well, but they are still criminals first, cops second. And as with the populace in general, criminals with badges (and guns) make it rough on the law abiding with badges (who also have guns). which, is why, they so desire the populace de-guned, so to speak, to make their jobs\careers easier.
There is nothing more promising to the wolves than to take the sheep-dogs away from protecting the flocks, then to bring them 'enlightenment \ transcendence'. A few years back the pseudo-environmentalist prevented Zimbabwe from getting many tons of U.S. corn to alleviate a famine that was killing their people. The logic of the pseudo-environmentalist is simple: The GMO corn "may" cause some health problems in humans so it is better that these black people die of hunger then "possibly" have some health effects from this nasty GMO corn. Of course there is zero evidence that GMO corn will harm humans but who knows it "might"...
The dirty secret is that all the plants we now use is genetically altered from their origins. Try telling that to the Envions, and see where that gets you...
Without the altered superior yields, hearty strains, disease resistance, and other altered traits, we could not feed ourselves with the originals, or, they would take far more space than we use today. But, the meme is catchy, and its good to help Gaea and not taint her with those repugnant GMO travesties... I read the linked paper on Corporate Psychopaths. The writing was poor and the content almost silly. But it did a fair job of unintentionally describing certain high-level politicians!
Benghazi Barry's Boys: There's the fear that they are not incompetent, that they just want us to think so.
School Lunches: So some of our Educrats/Adminstratocrats are smarter than they look, or usually act. GMO: These guys bought the Overpopulation theory and are determined to fight anything that might lead to overpopulation. And, of course, they are not "directly" killing off those people, so "their hands are clean". Embarrassment to Education: And a fine job he's doing! MLK: The Content Of Their Character? That's raaaaaacist! Racism Hoaxes prove there's just not enough raaaaacism in the U.S.A. to satisfy some people. Murder rates: Somebody at Harvard is in deep and serious for refuting The Narrative. Movie Review: I'm guessing he nailed it, because this movie is Too Important to hew to the truth. Those who inherited the leadership of the Civil Rights movement looked deep into the content of their character....and decided they'd best be judged by the color of their skin or they were in trouble.
re. gun control article:
apparently the writers misrepresented the data to favor their argument (see one comment using google facts:"Google intentional death rates for countries Luxumbourg is listed as 0.90 for 2002 - looks like Kates and Mauser misrepresented the data by entire order of magnitude, conveniently in favor of of their argument. "Hahvahd" would never be that sloppy. Maggie's got hoodwinked by bad scholarship Re MLK + 50: Thomas Sowell is an American treasure. I'm not the social observer or writer Sowell is, so I'm going to say something that may offend a lot of people.
Here it is: it is now almost a century and a half since the abolition of slavery in the United States and half a century since the passage of the Civil Rights and Voting Rights acts of the 1960s and yet a large portion of African-Americans seemingly still cling to a plantation mentality, expecting someone else---these days it's the government---to provide them with free stuff, a free cell phone, free gas, a free TV, you name it. In case it isn't clear to some people yet, the MLK "I have a dream speech" that we celebrate today was not just about personal freedom but about personal RESPONSIBILITY. It's time for some of you out there to pull up your pants and take responsibility for your own lives. The serious issues that face the black community today are epitomized by Mr. Samuel Delbert Whitney. Who is Mr. Delbert? According to the NY Daily News, Mr. Delbert died recently at the age of 87. Mr. Delbert fathered 54 children by many different women, to whom he was never married of course. There, in a nutshell, you have it...a disintegrating black family, meaning no father figure in the house --> producing an unstable home life for children --> producing feral black kids who end up living a life of crime...that is, if they aren't shot to death in a gang killing. |
