Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I would ask Al Sharpton to pay her fine

Tawana loses job and bed - Can’t pay suit $$


Seriously, she was an idiot kid at the time, in a family dispute. Her mess began when the grievance crews showed up and exploited a foolish kid. I feel sorry for her. I think she was just trying to avoid a whuppin' from her father or stepfather or whoever, and quickly got in over her head with her teenage fibs.


In a way, I see both her and Pagones as victims of the race industry.

Pagones has said that if Tawana were to apologize for what she said, he would forgive the debt.

I was thinking along those same lines before I read your comment. I guessed that he knows she doesn't have any money and doesn't care about the money -- he cares about making her admit what she did.

It is for this reason I don't feel sorry at all for her. Pagones was quoted just the other day repeating this offer, and all she has to do is admit her error and she can move on with her life.

Sympathy only that she was used as a "child", but remember her age... old enough to know better than to lie and allow that circus. Several good cops got shamelessly smeared and accused. She never spoke up and corrected the farce.

That she only got sued is a travesty. That Al used her to ramp his national exposure and grievance machine contemptible and he'll reap his rewards too someday.

This is a teachable moment about lying and deceit, but it will be lost on those most in need of it.

My interpretation of the article is not that she lost her job, but that she quit her job, will move to another place, and assume another identity.

Seems to me it would be a lot easier to simply apologize to Pagones and be relieved of having to go through this charade. But when you have been moving in one direction for over a quarter century, it is difficult to change direction.

Her renting furniture is an indication that she was already preparing for the possibility of another move.
