Norcia! I'm a New Hampshireite long resident in Western Australia where we have town called New Norica, Thanks to your post I now see it is not coincidental that our New Norcia has a sprawling Roman Catholic set of buildings, retreat centre, grand hotel - the works. I took my mother there when she visited me here in about 1977. She met a priest at New Norcia who had come as a young man to Australia from Spain during the civil war in the 30s. They became great pen pals and corresponded until she died in 1984. She gave regular contributions to New Norcia and her priest friend got to visit Spain for the first time since he had left. He reported to my mother that he was shocked by the openly displayed affection displayed by young couples!
