We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Much of Kenyon's campus looks like this. At least the older stuff does. The newer stuff tries to be compatible but fails somewhat. Nevertheless, Forbe's rag has listed Kenyon's campus among the most beautiful college campuses, and deservedly so.
The Episcopal chapel is especially beautiful and by itself worth the 1 hr 20 min drive if you find yourself marooned in Columbus.
For some reason post-commencement crowds have always reminded me of post-funeral crowds. An atmosphere of relief, or perhaps being set free is the best way I can describe it. Maybe a MF shrink can explain it.
