We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. The cruelest link you ever done saw




Do you believe that man-made global warming is eventually going to cause dirt to reach the point of spontaneous combustion as the above Fox News headline indicates?

Do you believe that the 11% contribution of man-made CO2 to the .3% of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is going to set off a chain reaction causing the other 99.7% of the atmosphere to turn into a fireball of death?

Do you believe that solar radiation plays no part in our global climate because your neighbor's SUV tailpipe is more powerful than the sun?

If so, then you're a true AGWer and you have my sympathy.

Because there was a headline floating around the other day that proved, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that man-made global warming is finally here and we're all going to die within months unless we immediately donate $100 to Greenpeace.

New World's Hottest Temperature Declared!

Thrilling, isn't it?  To a devout AGWer like yourself, you must have shivered in delight as you clicked on the link, knowing that the final proof was here.

And that's when you discovered the cruelest link you ever done saw.

I... I really don't have the heart to say any more.

The rest of you will just have to witness the cruelality for yourself.

So the Geological Poobah's take away the "World's Hottest" record from Libya and there are riots in Libya. Coincidence?! I think not! It's not religion. It's not some obscure video that no one has seen. It's no longer being the "World's Hottest Place" that has caused the riots! Alert the administration, there's a new angle on it! (Please note sarcasm.)

I've discovered the source of confusion. There was a transcription error when awarding the honor to Libya. It should have read "hottest tempered", not 'temperature'. Given how close the two words are, it's easy to understand the confusion.

So the hottest temperature ever recorded was +134ºF and the coldest temperature ever recorded was -129ºF so the average all time world temperature record would be...

Drum roll please...

5ºF!!

Damn - this proves we NEED global warming.

You're right about it needing to warm up a bit. I've always thought that perhaps the greatest irony of AGW are the ice-bound nations that buy into it, like Canada. You guys like living in igloos, is that it?

So, that should mean that hot nations should be against it, but, in another irony, when it's boiling out, another degree or two doesn't make any difference. Down here in the Keys, I honestly can't tell the dif between 94 and 96 -- all I know is that it's hotter than hell out.

If the planet actually starts to boil, though, all bets are off.
