We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Family brand? It appears that the Romney clan tends to wear similar clothing for group photographs. Here is one in which the male grandchildren all had navy blue polo shirts, and the female grandchildren had on white tops or dresses.
That photo reminds of of Christmases at my brother's wife's family. She was one of seven children. Nearly 40 sat down for Christmas dinner.
Don't tell the grandkids, but grandparents remember them by numbers, not names. At least they do in my family. My parents had three sons and a daughter, and six grandsons and no granddaughters - two of the sons had three sons each. For several years now, my mother, who's 84, has been mixing up the names of her 9 male descendants, but she only mixes up the three oldest boys (the oldest son, and the oldest of each set of grandsons) with each other, the three middle ones with each other, and the three youngest ones with each other. It's not that there's any resemblance in names, either. Obviously, her brain must have us all stored by number, so I (Michael) am Son 2, and she'll call me Jonathan (Grandson 2 by my older brother) or Craig (Grandson 5, my younger brother's 2nd son), and call them Michael, but she never calls the three of us by the names of any of the other six male descendants. (Actually, there are a couple of great-grandsons now, but she can remember them because they're still cute and cuddly and there's only two of them, not three.)
This photo reminds me of family photos when I was young. And it is guaranteed to drive the leftists absolutely nuts!
It all reminds me of something I read recently. That the US will keep getting more secular for another 40 years, and then, starting in 2050 or so the fact that the religious have so many children compared to the secular will turn that around.
Want proof? Look at the number of children the secular Jews have (1 or 2) compared to the Orthodox (8-10). It doesn't take long to have a profound effect. and the same thing w/ Christians.
So, based on your premise of the growth and decline of the secular community, the "Free Love" generation's children, the ones who aren't having kids because it conflicts with Mother Gaia and promotes Global Warming/Cooling/Change, will have a failing population. And the more conservative types, who consistently have larger families, will overtake the more liberal population?
How can I contribute to this overtaking of the liberal population? Make it happen now, not later!
