Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Didn't one of the bloggers on Maggies go to Mexico for health care recently? I don't recall anyone saying he "fled" the country though.

To be fair, when you've driven up unemployment, it is a bit cruel to expect the welfare recipient to find one. So this may not be more than a logical consequence of Obama's poor economic program.

"Everyone a Harlot" Nice piece! That's an essay, whether Bacon would have liked it or not.

I know a lot of teachers, pastors, puppets, paupers, pirates, poets, pawns and kings who should read that column, every day for a month.

You're right, Bird Dog. The "shale oil and gas" revolution is a great example of how private entrepreneurs can open up great new industries. if they can evade the slippery fingered Busybody Brigade. The oil and gas industry got very smart on this one, and perfected their fracking techniques in the forty-year period before the Busybody Brigade found out what they were doing and tried to stop or control it. Then the shale gas industry got underway drilling on private property mostly and got the new technique on solid footing before the Busybodies found out about it. Canada's shale gas/oil industry was already in the production phase and willing to sell to us before Brigade found out. The greenies immediately went into action to get shale activities prohibited on public lands, refusing to learn about the production activities because obviously they are damaging to the environment [which they aren't].. But, as maggiesfarmers know, shale oil and gas production is quite safe, as those folks who are producing on sites on private lands can witness.
Sorry Obama... these production techniques are quite safe as they are currently conducted. Guess you'll have to postpone your elaborate plans to nationalize the oil and gas industries, to give your Administration control over oil and gas as well as the health industry. Your dishonesty, by the way, is quite breathtaking.

I visit Maggies for the articles--really--but the pictures are nice too. Just wish they had more women and fewer girls.

I think i've got that figgered out. When one sees a grandaughter-aged cheesecake shot, one is drawn quickly to their ancient natural home in the animal kingdom --but then one is lifted back out by a higher power saying through your inner voice "Oh dammit --i'm way too old fer her."

And thus the crafty crew at Maggie's tends its flock.
