Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Do you "want it all"?

Well, it's about women but it might as well be about men. In a sense, everybody wants it all, but everbody's "all" is different. Furthermore, there is this annoying thing called reality which always gets in the way of wishes.

The Soapbox is a rant against capitalism. People like that scare me.

I want Adam Smith back, with his 'invisible hand' and his cheerful willingness to allow the market to work again, saying 'yes' to this neat idea, 'take it away' to that weak one. John Maynard Keynes has been proven wrong again and again.

Having it all, without effort, would be a crashing bore, don't you think?
