We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Checkitout: 'Life's Little Mysteries'


I blundered my way across a fairly interesting site a while back called Life's Little Mysteries.  It struck a deep nerve because I realized it was answering the very questions that haunt all people of vast and superior intellect.  Questions such as:


What If The World Stopped Turning?


How Do You Weigh An Atom?


What If The Yellowstone Supervolcano Erupts?


How Much Would the Avengers' Damage to Manhattan Cost?


Which isn't to say they don't cover the important stuff, like How To Properly Bury A Vampire and Italian Crop Circle Linked to Solar Eclipse.


Having recently put two documentaries on the Japanese tsunami/Fukushima meltdown on my Special Vids page, I had an interest in Does Radioactive Tuna Mean Fukushima Was Worse than Expected?  (I believe the answer to that last one would be 'yes', since the meltdown at Fukushima wasn't 'expected' at all)


It also has a few techie-type things on it, like What's The Difference Between LED and LCD TVs?, and it tries to answer a question so many of us ask ourselves while staring into the mirror in wonderment and awe, Why Are Genius and Madness Connected?


A little somethin' for everyone.

I have known more then a few geniuses and there is another oddity often connected to them. That is a low or non-existent sex drive. To clearify I have certainly known geniuses with a normal or above normal sex drive but in general these geniuses have done little useful to humanity with their intelligence. But those geniuses who work 16 hours a day 7 days a week and produce, discover or invent generally have no sexual drive and often remain celibate their entire life.

Interesting observation, and sounds logical. Despite being "driven by our hormones", sex is still mostly mental, and if you're otherwise preoccupied, then the desire simply isn't there.

Unfortunately, though, your analysis proves I'm not a genius by any stretch of the imagination.

I can't find the tsunami/nuclear disaster videos on your page but there are some truly bad documentaries being made on that subject right now.

Whoops. I forgot to include the link, and thanks for mentioning it. Both videos are very good; the one on the tsunami showed how incredibly destructive they can be, and the one on Fukushima was decidedly fair.

Hey Doc!

Tremendously enjoy your work here and at your site.

Two things: I am a 17 year survivor of the big "C" in the large bowel. My physician/surgeon and personal friend came out of the surgery and told my bride, of then 25 years, that I had two months without any chemo or radiation, maybe 6 months with.

I love it when the Creator messes with the "professionals". ;)

Most Important Well Wishes to You in the coming days (and a number of prayers on your part, also.)
