Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Hometown Poll: Obamaganda "Fail"

In a voluntary poll, unscientific, by my hometown's Encinitas Patch, only 18% said "no" to whether "Is stay-at-home parenting as difficult as a job outside of the home?"


Encinitas political party registration is about evenly split among Republicans, Democrats and Independents. Obamaganda fails across party lines.

Redneckliberal ... Let me ask you one favor. Could you consider that there are other kinds of conservatives and libertarians than the classic liberal concept of "a conservative, one who is clinging to his guns and Bible?" This is a big country, you know, with many variations of beliefs, and the people holding those beliefs all love the country for its special abilities to allow for different folks to have variations in convictions about government, or lack of it.

Currently, under the Administration of Barack Obama, many different groups of people are feeling that their privacy, freedom of speech, and ability to move around as they wish to are being threatened. The Busybody Brigade is in full flower, trying to decide what we should eat, what we should own and what we should think. Many of us have widely different beliefs, and one of the admirable things about our government so far is that we have had the wiggle room to proceed with our lives pretty much as we choose, as long as we don't hurt anyone else.
Personally, I never listen to Rush Limbaugh. But I would never be so arrogant as to tell other people they shouldn't.

Some people have no idea Rush is an entertainer. The Fluke story? the Espn episode, all part of the Rush meme, and a huge part of his fortune. RNL: realize when you are being played. Obviously you buy into the Rush persona and business model or you wouldn't ever acknowledge it as something it pretends to be, a bloviating windbag, and rather you'd see clearly what it is, a business you support by criticizing it.
