We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The Strip -- The Better Sides

Before going on to the better sides of the Strip, across Las Vegas Blvd. from the Monte Carlo is a 4-story M&M store, filled with kitch, at high price tags. These cylindars are full of different varieties of M&Ms @ $10/lb. Free samples? Yes, just two M&Ms per person!



There were so many grossly obese persons walking the Strip, the boys started calling them M&M people.

In front of New York, New York. Greenberg's Deli had good corned beef, although the sandwich not as stuffed as at Jewish delis you may be used to, and the cheesecake was good, hard to find anywhere anymore. Jason loved the giant loop-d-loop rollercoaster.



Next stop, the Bellagio, worth more views than most hotels.

I'm a fan of Vegas. I've only stayed in a few of the hotels, but the Luxor was not a good one. I'm sure it was, back in the day, but I was there recently and was severely disappointed.

I was at the Flamingo in 1998, and it was fantastic, not so sure it's as good as it was then, though I know the pool is very nice.

I stayed at the Mirage several times in the last five years, and enjoyed it each time.

I was lucky to go with a group of people from my place of work in 2007. One was a member of the Events staff. She invited me to dinner one night. Apparently, as an Events staff member, she frequently gets free meals and has certain privileges which many of us don't have, because restaurants and clubs want to grease them up to be tapped for future events by the corporation. I had dinner at MiX, a restaurant on top of THEhotel at Mandalay Bay, followed by a late night at Ghost Bar - which was intriguing to just sit, sip chilled vodka and watch trust-fund babies party until the wee hours.

Vegas, as my wife said, is a nice place to visit but you can't want to stay very long. We intend to renew our vows in front of Elvis, at some point, because you're never really married until you're married by Elvis.

After all, none other than Jim Ignatowski listed Vegas as one of the three best weddings - for the glitz and glamor.

And, of course, you were perfectly ok with your boys creating a disrespectful name for people with a weight problem. That's ok, fat people are the last and only group of folks that it is perfectly acceptable to denigrate and disrespect. And mom and dad led by example.

If you must ask, yes, I am one of those "M&M" people. I have struggled since childhood to moderate my weight and at times have been more successful then not. To do so I had to skip many meals and eat a quarter of what people around me were eating. Yes, it is quite possible to gain weight while eating much less than other people. When I was at my lowest weight I was very, very unhealthy. I'm not buying it anymore. While I haven't given up on my weight I have stopped allowing people like you and your children to cause me so much distress due to your lack of caring and compassion for all that it causes me to become clinically depressed. Screw that, and y..., umm, no, not from me.

In the end, while I may be able and have lost weight, you can't do anything about an ugly soul.

We concur. It was not polite to allow them to continue to call someone names beyond the first time.
