Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Friday, March 30. 2012Is President Obama a racist hatemonger?I can certainly understand when anyone spends more time or energy on defending his or her own ethnic group or race or affinity group from unfairness. I do, regarding Jews and Israel, and Marines. But, at the same time, if one does so even when evidence points another way, ignores the rights or rightful claims of others, even adversaries, it – at least – indicates a narrowness of perspective and inadequate interest in justice for all, which reduces credibility. It clearly spills over into racism when attacks or defense use racial or ethnic stereotypes, jumps to conclusions based on race or ethnicity, especially in the absence of facts or connection. When one tolerates such, even defends such, even encourages such, then one is choosing to affiliate with racists and is properly grouped with them. I think that is where President Obama falls. By dint of his repeated one-sided and unsupported words and gestures, and his inadequate attention to the facts or rights of others, President Obama is a racist. By dint of his high public position and influence, those repeated words and gestures make him a hatemonger, as well.

I have generally tried to avoid the Trayvon Martin discussions. I consider a no-win proposition. The only clear fact is that a man is dead and he was unarmed. Beyond that, not much is clear at all.
Still, my New York liberal activist friends have chosen to ask me my view, assuming they can spark a conservative (which I'm not really) 'racist' rant. All I did was repeat what I wrote above. This angered some. "Don't you have a view - there's so much information about it you had to read it?" I replied, "No, I know about it, but I don't care. It's a mountain made from a molehill when you consider black on black crime represents a large proportion of crime in the black community - why is this singled out? Clearly because somebody wishes to make a statement about gun control, racism, or both." Well, naturally this led to my reviewing the information. What have I learned? Exactly what I thought before. Nobody knows anything. It doesn't appear to be racism. On the tape, Zimmerman doesn't even know the guy's race. When asked if the suspect is black or white, he replies "uh, he looks black". Not exactly damning stuff. The epithet he supposedly made isn't clear at all. In fact, I can't tell what he actually said, and apparently neither can audio experts. Was Martin drunk or high? No idea. Zimmerman says he was acting oddly on the call. That means nothing. Was there a fight? We know there was, you can hear it on the other witness' 911 call. We have no idea how it started. In the end, we can't say anything about the case except it was either assault with a deadly weapon, negligent homicide, or some other variation. Certainly not a racist activity or murder in cold blood. For Obama to claim Trayvon could've looked like his son is absurd and outlandish, and only calls to mind how foolish he looked after the Henry Louis Gates incident. As president, I'd be happier seeing him pay attention to Foreign Policy rather than Neighborhood Watch in Florida. As for Martin, I feel bad for the kid and his family. I also feel bad for Zimmerman, who (by all accounts) has suffered psychological trauma and clearly made a horrible and fateful decision to pull the trigger. Still, he killed an unarmed man, perhaps in self defense, but unarmed. It's a difficult case. Nitwits like Maher are making hay with it....because they are nitwits. I take a slightly different view. I agree Obama is a racist and I base that on his history including his racist church. But what I think is happening here is political opportunism. Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson have made a carear out of race baiting and extortion. They are both multi-millionaires as a result of a lifetime of extrating money from hapless victims of their race baiting. But in this case I don't think Sharpton and Jackson are race baiting for fun and profit as usual I think they are "race baiting for Obama". This is part of a greater Democrat plan to change the subject in the election, provide cover for Obama's failures and to rally his base. They have declared war on hispanics and whites and they expect this to get Obama re-elected. This is cynical politics pure and simple.
If you don't believe that race baiting is a viable political tool then I remind you that a large part of the reason we are in this economic recession/depression is because of the race baiting tactics that Sharpton, Jackson and others used to force banks to make bad loans and force Democrats in congress to pass laws requiring bad loans. Race baiting is big business and it works. It may well decide this election and the fate of our country. Expect more not less. "Still, he killed an unarmed man, perhaps in self defense, but unarmed."
In what scumbag created universe are violent criminals like NO_LIMIT_NIGGA owed a "fair fight" by their would be victims? Sick. Do you know something about the case others don't?
I have no idea what Martin was really like - do you? I have no idea who started the fight - do you? I have no idea who was really the threatening party - do you? At the end of the day, until all the evidence is accumulated, Occam's Razor applies. First, the epithet you used I will reject without discussion. Second, if I'm armed, and another is not, using the weapon creates a huge problem for me unless there is a extreme and direct threat on my life. I don't know if, as some have claimed, that Martin tried to take the gun, let alone take it and use it. I don't even know why it was pulled in the first place. Sorry. Can't agree with you on this. The 'No Limit Nigga' is his twitter handle...
THAT'S where it came from. And I'd call that a 'tell.' Damning, it is . I hope the Florida police remember to do a gunpowder residue test on Trayvon’s hands as well.
After he hit Zimmerman (breaking his nose) and knocked him to the ground and smashed his head against the pavement (confirmed by multiple witnesses and police statements of the real victims condition), another witness stated that Trayvon was trying to get Mr. Zimmerman’s gun. The easiest way to get shot in that scenario is to pull the weapons barrel towards yourself, while the owner is trying to hold onto it and prevent it from being turned on himself. Pull the barrel while the owners finger is on the trigger and… But all statements that start and end with "Wait until the full investigation is complete" are correct and right. Pity the media, and the President didn't do that. Everything we think we know, including my opening scenario is based on hearsay and leaked information and any of it may be incorrect or distorted. It's politics.
Remember the "black churches burning" during Clinton's reelection campaign? Later, turned out there was nothing to it. Small old churches, black or white, were catching fire at the same rate they always had. First, as GWTW said, this is political race baiting. Obama has made his entire career out of it: from his community organizing, to his handing out funds from the Woods and Annenberg foundations for ACORN and social justice-based education programs, to working on actions against Citibank regarding low/no downpayment mortgages in black neighborhoods, to his lectures at the U. of Chicago law school, to opening sealed divorce records of those running against him in elections, to totally ignoring the black-on-black crime in his Congressional district, to becoming the poster child for flaunting his so-called blackness to get what he wants.
Mind you, none of his efforts have resulted in any improvement in the black community. Housing, education, crime, employment and welfare statistics are worse than ever. The only outstanding improvement has been HIS net worth and that of his cronies. Race baiting was his road to riches, just as Jesse and Al have used it. Regarding Bulldog's comments, the media has been treasonously complicit in his rise to power via race-baiting. From the time Oprah crowned him The Won, to the lack of vetting in his presidential run, to ignoring his blatant disregard for The Constitution to, now, this last monkey-business with the Martin-Zimmerman fiasco. The media, too, profits from making major chaos out anything that will increase circulation and viewership, i.e. profits. They delight in mob rule, forgetting that our country was designed, NOT as a democracy, but as a Constitutional Republic. I would add that most members of Congress and the elites of the business community and educational system are equally to blame as they know this path to power is the road to ruin for the U.S. and they have totally ignored it. They are passing laws and misusing regulations already in place to the detriment of future generations. Once they get their power consolidated and their piece of the pie stashed away, anything goes. Read the latest of the idiotic laws our politicians sneak in during the middle of the night to increase their isolation from the electorate: krisannehall.com on HR347/S1794. Good luck trying to use citizens' rights to object to this never-ending consolidation of power. I agree, the media (which I have the dishonor of being a part of, at least in some fashion) is complicit. It angers me regularly to see the softballs they toss him, the way they hid or hide his faults and foibles, but put others on display. The way they praise him for outlandish commentary (like the Henry Louis Gates debacle).
A friend of mine, NY lib who likes the O, refuses to acknowledge that Obama utilizes knee-jerk reactions to fuel his PR. He's an opportunist. It doesn't have to just be race, it could be anything. Look at the way his people are demonizing speculators for the price of gasoline! They never stop to ask if we need more (or better) refineries, or perhaps fewer boutique fuels for our cars. Right on! I, too, was a journalist before going into marketing communications and PR (needed more money and the field of journalism was changing). My J-school professors must be turning over in their graves at the behavior now accepted.
I also volunteered in the Chicago Public Schools for 20 years, leaving just before Ayers and Obama started their redesign efforts. Oddly (sarc), the schools I worked on have continued to serve their communities well and the design has expanded to other sites while the Annenberg schools are still disasters. You have to push reading, writing, math and science. As for his PR tactics, it's all Alinsky-based. I know these people who have designed his campaign. They are counting on an uneducated, illiterate, sound-bite-based electorate to pull of his election. Forget about analyzing the mechanics of any industry to make educated decisions. Sadly, the same people taken in by these tactics are the same ones most affected by the rising prices of food, energy, housing, credit, etc. I just watched someone from the department of housing (paid for by tax $$$) explaining their new and extensive efforts (read: more people, thus more tax $$$) to help those facing foreclosure. DUH! If the government hadn't screwed around with housing, the crisis never would have happened! Government intervention always ends up costing more. Believe me, the educated ones are making a bundle off this wheeling and dealing. You don't contribute $10,000 plus at a meet-and-greet for a candidate if there's not some benefit. While Obama wanting to create distractions from his abysmal record is a valid point, i don't see what is gained for his cause by promoting racial division. He already has 90+% of the black vote in the bag. Stigmatizing a Hispanic can't help with the Latino vote. What seems evident by the unscientific monitoring of internet comments is the hardening of white opposition to Obama and the race baiters as a reaction to the outrageous claims in this case. If the aim was a sympathy vote for Obama, I think its been a miserable failure.
bill, Obama has many constituencies benefiting from his election and "let no crisis go to waste" is the theme song of this crew They've been formulating this takeover for many, many years with the idea that the more people who are dependent on them, the more votes they will get to stay in power.
They rely on building a beef for everyone that only the government can solve: racial inequality, women's rights, unions' rights, welfare eligibility, Social Security/Medicare, Medicaid/access to healthcare, education (and all its multiple factions), environmental protection, housing, agriculture, insurance, banking, etc. Racial divide as illustrated by Martin vs. Zimmerman is just the latest crisis-du-jour. Many, many, many people of all races/ages/interests are dependent on government largess. As my grandfather preached: when there are more people making a living off the government's policies than there are those employed in a truly Free Market that enhances basic needs, we are in trouble. Unfortunately, both parties use these tactics. Some administrations more than others. That's why it takes an invested electorate to beat back big government at every single election -- local, state and federal. And don't forget voter fraud. In my experience, the Democrats are masters at it. Look at voter registration policies in Minnesota where they just hand out registration forms without identification of residency. Look at overseas military ballots that are mailed too late. Look at the Wisconsin unions effort to recall Governor Walker by using ACORN subsidiaries from surronding states to stack the signatures, then limiting time to verify them (actually an old Chicago tactic). Egads. Sorry for the rants, but this is getting to me. I've got grandkids whose grandkids are going to be paying for this. Its the only wildcard he has available left to play for re-election. Every other booster for that is gone - economy, war effort, Foreign affairs, ect.
Where a President should be statesman-like, this one is no better than the basketball thugs who harbor on the courts at midnight, yet complain there is no opportunities for them out there. How about the other killings out there, even the one in Sanford FLA, that thug who had 'SAVAGE' tattooed across his chest, whom brutally murdered two UK citizens who gave him everything they had, and pleaded for their lives, but never a peep in the national media as they have trumpeted for Martin. And, yet, they wonder why subscriptions are down, and viewership has waned for national news... I would not go so far as call him Racist, but he sure shows ample characteristics, along with many of those whom he chooses to associate with. Where a President should be statesman-like, this one is no better than the basketball thugs who harbor on the courts at midnight, yet complain there is no opportunities for them out there.
In Dreams From My Father, Barack Obama writes about his encounters with the teenaged son of one of his co-workers when he was a "community organizer." The teenager is a basketball player who similarly complains about the lack of opportunities for him. QUOTE: And I liked her son, Kyle Jr. He had just turned fourteen, and in all of his awkwardness-one moment frisky and bumping into me while we shot baskets together in the neighborhood park, the next instant bored and sullen-I could see all the contours of my own youthful struggles. Sometimes Ruby would question me about him, exasperated with a mediocre report card or a cut on his chin, baffled by a young man’s unruly mind. Community Organizer Brilliant Ivy League Graduate Obama apparently didn't know anything about the Tuskegee Airmen. Had he known about the Tuskegee Airmen, he would have told Kyle about them. So Community Organizer Barack Obama was ignorant of the fact that there had been black Air Force pilots for over 40 years at the time of the above conversation. That doesn't surprise me, given what we have learned about Profit/Earnings ratio, speaking Austrian, and the Marine Corpse. “Last week he said he was going to be a rap artist,” she would report. “Today he tells me he’s going to the Air Force Academy to be a fighter pilot. When I ask him why, he just says ‘So I can fly.’ Like I was stupid. I swear, Barack, sometimes I don’t know whether to hug him or beat his skinny behind.” “Try both,” I would tell her………. p 104 Some nights, Ruby would call me at home just to talk about him, how she never knew where he was anymore, how his grades had continued to drop in school, how he hid things from her, the door to his room always closed. Don’t worry, I would tell her; I was a lot worse at Kyle’s age. I don’t think she believed that particular truth, but hearing the words seemed to make her feel better. One day I volunteered to sound Kyle out, inviting him to join me for a pick-up basketball game at the University of Chicago gym. He was quiet most of the ride up to Hyde Park, fending off questions with a grunt or a shrug. I asked him if he was still thinking about the air force, and he shook his head; he’d stay in Chicago, he said, find a job and get his own place. I asked him what had changed his mind. He said that the air force would never let a black man fly a plane. I looked at him crossly. “Who told you that mess?” Kyle shrugged. “Don’t need somebody to tell me that. Just is, that’s all.” “Man, that’s the wrong attitude. You can do whatever you want if you’re willing to work for it.” Kyle smirked and turned his head toward the window, his breath misting the glass. “Yeah, well…how many black pilots do you know?” p 138 What speaks badly of Obama is that he did no followup research to show Kyle that his view of opportunities for blacks in the Air Force was not as he viewed them. [I knew two retired black Air Force officers who held the Air Force in very high regard.] Barack the Lazy showed up again. Perhaps Barack the Lazy didn't do the research because he really believed what Kyle said. Obama can do first rate jobs of agitating and dividing, but he is incapable of healing and inspiring. One problem the left has had with this whole narrative is that reactions to the narrative have uncovered stones the left would prefer to keep covered. Such as the fact that black offenders account for over 90% of black homicides. Such as the Brit tourists who got killed in Florida. What says the POTUS about that? It it doesn't fit the narrative, the POTUS says nothing. So Martin was unarmed. Question: Was he bigger and stronger that Zimmerman? Yes , a pistol may be disproportionate force, but it was all he had left(?).
Count me as a "don't know" vote. Martin is 3 inches taller, Zimmerman weighs more. No doubt with his height, Martin was somewhat menacing (my brother is 3 inches taller than me and he can be a presence when he's fully extended).
On the other hand, weight may have been a counterbalance. It's hard to say who is/was 'stronger' or more willing to fight. Either way, and this is coming from someone who avoids physical conflict, if possible, a gun is overwhelming force. BD posted something on here recently about "Han fired first" and they discussed the use of a gun. If you point it at someone, you have to be prepared to use it (a rule I was taught, though I was first taught not to point at all). Assuming Zimmerman didn't point it, kept it hidden or holstered, then it's an open question of who predicated the events. If he pulled it first, then he may easily be seen as the aggressor. Again, all the "facts" I have read and you have read may be inaccurate hearsay, however since we started this...
The picture pasted across the INTERNET and on the media, the happy little boy, is supposedly at least six years old. I have read from multiple sources, Martin (6'3", 160 lbs) was a football and basketball player, Zimmerman (5'9", 200 lbs, age 28 to 31 ???) was inactive and fat. Supposedly his most published picture was also several years old of a younger, fitter man. If the witness who (supposedly) claims that Martin went for Zimmerman's gun is correct, or even exists, and if it is true that Zimmerman was on the ground when that happened then who knows who caused the gun to fire. But there is no question that only one of them called the police in advance and who but a idiot would shot another person without reason after calling the police? Intentionally or not, and ironically or not, Obama is creating millions of white racists, who are heartily sick of having been called racist for decades.
A well-known behavioral principal is that, eventually, people will behave as they are treated. Is Obama a racist hate-monger? He obviously is. He attended and applauded Jeremiah Wright's anti-white rants and antisemitic diatribes for 22 years.
Obama and the Democrats have racialized everything, and they have declared open season on whites. Working class and middle class whites comprise one of the few groups (another being Catholics) that can be and is discriminated against. We are demonized and compelled to silence, and our identity is actively and vigorously suppressed. The inane pretense that the United States is a single, unified nation has to end. That country died in 1945, and it will never come back. Now we are all special interests groups jockeying for power and wealth. White are second class citizens of the US. We have reached the point where white people need our own political party to defend our interests, and even our lives and property. True racism of the most foul sort is evidenced by the vile supposition wherein reasonable people should know better than to speak to a black kid who is snooping around in their neighborhood and not EXPECT to be violently attacked. This grotesque rationalization assumes that non-white teenagers are wild animals and should be treated as such by the "fairer" race.
In many discussions today we hear the term "social network". I believe that we have "tribes": groups of people who for many, many years and generations have been trained, indoctrinated, and bullied into doing what "the leader" tells them to do. How strong the bullying, how quick the shunning for failure to obey, all of these techniques tell us how powerful "the network", or "The Tribe" have become. In the US today we are returning to what I call tribalism. Unfortunately for the black community their brief window of opportunity (1961-present) has developed not a stronger family unit, not a stronger development of independent young people, but rather what happened was the Jessie Jackson, Black Panthers, Al Sharpton strategies of "social networking"--tribalism. I am afraid that their time of being treated with special privilege to atone for past pains is quickly coming to an end. Their leaders know this, their leaders understand that the other "tribes" are growing restless against the behavior of this particular "social network". Perhaps we are seeing that free speech is really a cherished gift when it provides "the other tribe" the ability to protest bullies anywhere, in any tribe, or social network. By the way--social networks as they are referred to in context of computer based communities will become only as powerful as the individual is courageous! In the end even the "white tribes" will have to march in the town square to restore their advantages, and privileges.
A survey done for the Left-leaning New World Foundation in 1998 (Hillary Clinton, Chrm.)asked 1800 rank and file members of progressive groups what a progressive agenda should look like. Their number one concern was racism, followed by poverty, corporate power, etc.
Democrats were once the party of Racism, Southern slaveholders, Confederate side of the Civil War. With LBJ's "Great Society"and the passage of the Civil Rights bill, Democrats claimed the Black Vote, and when Nixon developed the southern strategy, they were quick to claim the Republicans had become the racist party. They keep pushing the theme because the black vote is important to them and they believe they have a lock on it. That's why blacks like Tom Sowell, Justice Thomas, Walter Williams, and Herman Cain are demonized, called Uncle Toms an other epithets. That's why Obama imitated Lincoln at his inauguration, leaving from Springfield by train, eating the same breakfast and using the Lincoln Bible. They are attempting to claim Lincoln as a Democrat. You tell the BIG LIE frequently enough and people believe it. Why on earth does that sell? Obama can get away with ending the DC Opportunity Scholarships, get away with black unemployment being sky high, and black youth unemployment even higher, and they just remind their base that Republicans are really the racist party. That's what Trayvon Martin is all about — or at least was until it was discovered that George Zimmerman was Hispanic and a registered Democrat. Is Obama a racist hatemonger? I suggest you ask Bob Strait when he gets out of the hospital. Be sure to ask him whether Obama called to offer condolences over the rape and murder of his 85 year old wife Nancy by Tyrone Woodfork, a young black man who might just happen to look a lot like Obama's son if the President had one.
I don't think President Obama is racist or a hatemonger. I think he is mistaken on many things, is coldly cynical and manipulative in his political style, has a worldview formed in the bubble of his leftist, urban, postmodern, academic and social circles. He likely has internalized the expectations that only white on black crime is worthy of explicit condemnation. And he is doing what he can to signal to his various "tribes" that he is in tune with their views on race, American society, etc.
