We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

More on yesterday at the Supremes

The only possible good thing that could come out of this case would be to set a limit on the Commerce Clause.  As far as medical care goes, the government could easily offer Medicare for all (if Congress could pass it and pay for it) and avoid any consitutional issues.

This whole Obamacare charade was to mask the situation that the federal government has mismanaged Medicare and Medicaid into insolvency. If it is ruled unconstitutional, Congress is going to then have to face that nightmare.

The Federal Government? It was We the People who voted for these guys, who told us they would send us free money first wrested by force from The Rich, or borrowed from the Chinese, or borrowed from the SocSec Trust Fund, or just given to us by magic unicorns. Well, not quite free, you had to behave in politically acceptable ways, or be a member of a special class of beggars complaining about how life treats you so unfairly.

Well, our FedGov is about broke, and everybody who gets a government check is about to get 50 cents on the dollar, unless they are the politicians special friends, in which case they might get 60 cents I reckon the days of trilliion dollar deficits will come to an end on 21 Jan 2013.

And the next Prez, whoever he is, is going to have to manage both riots by We the hind-tit sucking People, and brutal all-against-all political open warfare over a quickly shrinking pie.

Look in the mirror dude. You broke it, you bought it.

Lucky for me I don't get a government check and never planned on getting one. I never believed for an instant that I could retire on Social Security, and I don't want Medicare, either.

I do worry about getting 50 cents on the dollar on all my savings, though, which is what I'll get (if I'm lucky) after these idiots finish debasing the currency.

Prediction: there will be a plurality opinion with Kennedy as the hinge and the Marks Rule will keep everyone from congress to the lower courts guessing what it means for years to come.

both sides will claim victory.

we'll still lose regardless of who wins.
