Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

You're supposed to say society, not government, so that young people learn to think you are talking about altruism rather than social control.

Let's stop calling them progressives. They're against all progress. In fact, I can't think of a better term for their goals than regress.

Progress means more choices, more convenience, and more wealth for you and me (who have earned them). Not fewer.

Just call them Leftists.

They don't deserve to be call liberals or progressives.

They are pushing socialism and communism and nothing short of that.

No religion
No freedom
Everyone has the same amount of money no matter if you earn it or not.

I agree and have been calling them that for many years - nothing piddles in their Pepsi worse than truth and accurate terms.

Socialism is for the People, not the Socialist. And, they do practice equality - equal misery, loss of freedom and liberty for all, except for themselves.

Agreed. Liberal has such a nice sound to it (that many of the people who call themselves liberal don't deserve - besides, they are as far as possible from the classical liberals a they can be). Leftist is much more appropriate. It strips away the varnish of their canard that they car about the down-trodden or the weakest among us when what they are really after is raw power to tell us what to do.
