We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
A few items from the Duncan Phyfe show at the Met. His workshop/factory in Manhattan copied, but simplified, the popular styles of the time. Not exactly my taste, but much in demand at the time:
My Significant Other informs me that she and Mom saw a similar set of Duncan Phyfe table and chairs in an antique store last month, and they were priced CHEAP.
My mom bought a table at a garage sale. Painted it Avacado and left it for me when she died. I had said table stripped and the Finisher was stunned. I had a Duncun Phife Drum table dating back to the 18th century. The leather was gone from the center but he was able to recreate the look. The feet were the more simple flair legs with claw feet in Brass. I've alway wondered where to go to get an estimate of price. Any ideas. Thank you for any assistance
