We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Currier and Ives' Skating in Central Park (Lots more trees there than in the 1880s but it remains rus in urba, more or less, with some of the best birding in the East in migration time as a green oasis in a sea of urbanization along the Atlantic Flyway):
I just bought a copy of "A Steinway Christmas" from The 'Zon. I suggest other Maggie's readers, a discerning bunch to be sure, at least listen to the samples. It's a delight: piano instrumentals of a lot of music for the season.
--the Zon --LOL --i like that. My new SnL, whom the Zon whisked out of Austin and delivered to someplace where, according to his wife my daughter, "...it rains", will like it too i'm sure.
Anyhoo. Here's another Skating --by composer Vince Guaraldi, my favorite all time music person --who would be even without the 'Charlie Brown' gig which mainstreamed him during that time, and for which he wrote this piece.
...if you like the lilt and cascade, try this 'Skating', by great pianist and magnificent Guaraldi interpreter George Winston. This youtube starts with a clip from the TV show, the gang skating, and then cuts to Winston playing in concert, close up on the keyboard and hands doing that impossible pat-your-head-and-rub-your-belly thing that if you WANT to do it and CAN'T you will be kind of ruefully and humorously frustrated and miserable all your life.
