We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Thanks for posting your pics from OH. I went to College of Wooster and remember the bus rides to Gambier to play football against Kenyon in October. I'd see pickups parked in fields and along roadsides and know they belonged to bowhunters. As much as I loved playing ball, there was always a part of me that wished he was in a treestand on a blueird day in October.
I'm transplanted to SC now & like it, but Ohio still feels like home.
Corn standing in the field? That must be a late planting or they had some rain in Ohio this summer.
Everyone's been eager to get that $8/bushel so the fields are pretty bare in these parts (central Illinois and eastern Missouri). And the dry summer meant it was ready to cut early.
Went through Kansas and Missouri Monday. Combines running in a couple or three places; otherwise fields were down to dirt, with stalks and everything harvested.
Great photos as always, Bird Dog. I'm going to Gambier Wednesday, can't wait to see my son, and eat at Joe's Diner in Mt. Vernon! I love driving around the countryside in this part of Ohio - beautiful, well tended farms and really great people. And of course Kenyon itself, a wonderful place and superb college.
