Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Election 2012: Streaming debate aftermath




From my debate wrap-up yesterday:



They were asked (if you can believe this) if they thought anyone on Wall Street should go to prison for the economic harm they've done.



James Taranto in yesterday's Best of the Web Today expounded on this in his usual exemplary fashion and I thought I'd bring it to your attention.  He really nailed those liberal asshat moderators.

I'm shocked. Shocked! To see someone providing context and perspective to a position. Don't you realize it's only about what they say you say? They being the infamous they. You know - them.

Well, that's a shame, but thanks for the update. I suppose one of the geek sites like Wired or C-Net mentioned it, but those swung far to the left ages ago and I dropped them.

I note this line from the post:

"Unix , of course, became the inspiration for newer operating systems including Linux and Apple's iOS."

I was a master of the UNIX-inspired AmigaDOS language during my Amiga days, which we called "a really smart UNIX". Compared to what came before it (decorum prohibits me from mentioning names lest it scare any children in the room), UNIX was a godsend.

RIP, Dennis, and thank you.
