Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

 Fidel and the Embargo
Castro continues to baffle the West by behaving like an ignorant child. Is it possible that he believes Cuba's problems are to be blamed on the great big bully known as the United States? Twenty nations have once again asked the UN to intervene in US foreign policy. This lame duck organization seems to be eating at the same diner as Fidel because they too are misled. America will not stop that embargo at least not during this administration. More here:
 
"If the people of Cuba are jobless, hungry, or lack medical care, as Castro admits, it is because of his economic mismanagement, not the embargo," said Ambassador Ronald Godard, a senior adviser at the US Mission to the United Nations, addressing the General Assembly at UN headquarters in New York Tuesday."
