We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Turf Wars: What if it had been a flower garden instead of a vegetable garden? Or what if the home owner had put up a hedge of some sort, then did the veggie garden behind it?

So many questions, so little time.

California Cooling: At some point, these silly "scientists" have just got to give it up - what are they trying to prove? This clown Null is trying to rewrite atmospheric physics to fit the model. The sad thing is that they really honestly expect people of buy into it. Other than the truly intellectually/scientifically impaired or environmental ideologue that is.

Obama's Short Sight: I'm always amused at how the Left views the President as this high power mind and intellectual power house that nobody has seen in millions of years. My question is this - if he's so damn smart, how come we're still in this mess we're in? How come his mental prowess doesn't over come the lesser minds he has to deal with? How come his high intellect can't figure out a way to get the job done?

Is questioning the President's brilliance racist?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Tom - Only if you call him articulately unbrilliant.

The flying car roadable aircraft video was quite interesting, in that this is the first time a workable prototype has ever been built. Many have tried over the years, all have failed. This puppy looks like it's a real foot in the door.

The interviewers really missed the point, though, and the interviewee failed to raise it. The guy asked something like "But how do you land it on a Manhattan highway?", but nobody ever claimed you'd be landing these things on populated roads. The idea is to flit off to your destination, land at the nearest airport, then drive to the actual spot, be it home or a vacation hideaway.

Jetsons, here we come.

Actually the president is brilliant. He wanted to pay off his friends, sponsers and dedicated voters and he did with billions of your dollars. He wanted to force congress to raise taxes against the will of the people and he has created a situation where that is now inevitable. He wanted to push the U.S. over the economic cliff so he could use the disaster to implement his Marxist/Leninist agenda and that is moving along nicely. All in all he has been a success.

It does look as though his effort to destroy the 2nd amendment by flooding Mexico with guns bought in the U.S. is having a serious hiccup. But I feel confident our left wing media will come to his rescue and either cover it all up and divert our attention to Casey Anthony or maybe even convince us he had nothing to do with it.

What other president has accomplished this much in so little time???

I, for one, would love to do away with my front lawn, but cannot figure out how to do it and still have it look nice. I do already have a many shrubs and perennials so that the mowing is minimal.

If you have any ideas, I am open.

I know we have some brilliant minds out there. How can I do away with my lawn, yet still have a nice open space for the kids (teens) to run around?

And how do I sell said idea to my wife?
